  1. Sorry. I Meant 2011. It is supposed to be this fall. Mike
  2. One of the first things ***** and ***** will go over is that even though the program's not nationally accredited it is accredited by the state and will most likely be nationally accredited by the middle/end of 2012. If it gets accreditation all students currently enrolled get it. Good luck see you on campus Mike:yeah:
  3. I bought several set from RMF. Good quality scrubs. Check their sizing chart for info.
  4. Arisha, Here is some info on the CPR class that the nursing club is providing: For those of you interested in a CPR renewal class, the signup for the class will be Monday, July 26th from 1100-2:00 in front of the display cases in building 9. Bring $16.00 in cash to signup for the class. You will receive a book and a handout to review and bring with you to the class. The class is Monday, August 2nd either from 1-2:30 or 3:00-4:30 at SCC room 122. You will receive a Health Care Provider card by the end of the quarter and a copy of the card will be placed in your clinical file. If you don't return the book, you won't receive a card so remember to bring the book with you to the renewal class. If you have any questions speak with myself or Colleen Perkins, the Nursing Club president. Stasia I hope this is helpful. Mike :devil:Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum:devil:
  5. joan, no, scc did not lose state accreditation. grads can stand for boards. misty covered alot of the rumors in class last tuesday. mike :devil:si vis pacem, parabellum:devil: democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. benjamin franklin, 1759
  6. BarnOwl, Most people turned in the Background check paperwork on the first day, I turned in my paperwork much earlier. I also had to fill out additional paperwork for a federal background check for my practicals site, the VAMC. Mike
  7. BarnOwl, Yes Nursing school is difficult. You get out of it what you put in. If you don't work or study for class than it will be hard to get through the program. You sound like me, I am a good student but I was worried about nursing school. I had heard all the doom and gloom stories. Once I got her I found that it is at par with the prereqs. "Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum" is an old Latin adage. It means if you want peace prepare for war. Peace through superior firepower. You can interpret it many ways. I see it as hope for the best plan for the worst. Mike :devil:Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum:devil: :twocents:Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Benjamin Franklin, 1759:up:
  8. BarnOwl, Today in class *****( ARNP, Instructor, Department Chair, ATI Supervisor, and all around good egg) addressed some of the rumors and myths. Yes, the class was shrunk due to a glut of ADN RN's in Spokane. She says she is 99.9% convinced that we will have our NLN accreditation by the time our class graduates(December 2011). She says the Providence Healthcare(SHMC & HFH) is hiring ADN RN's but that they have decreased their hiring across the board. Arisha, :yeah:If you got in congrats. BarnOwl, I still think the odds are good that you will get in. Hope to see both of you in the fall, although I probably wouldn't know who you are if I saw you. I still haven't figured out who dallet6 is and we have been chatting on this board for months and have completed one quarter. Mike :devil:Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum:devil:
  9. People get dropped for a variety of reasons. Criminal record being one. The CPS one that I mentioned in an earlier post is the one that I think affects the most people. Drug tests are only required if the facility you are going to be at requires it. Everyone at orientation is completely registered by the end of orientation. But after the orientation, and after the background check people are continuously dropped. So if you are third, I would lay good odds on your getting in for fall. I would also lay fair odds on BarnOwl getting in also. I would think that the HIV/AIDS training you have will do, if it is within the last few years. You can ask Georgiana about that. You can find out your position on the waiting list by checking with registration in building 15. Accreditation, well that is an issue if you want to work for the VA or other federal organization. Most other employers, that I know of only look for state accreditation. It also appears that SCC will get their accreditation back by the time we complete the program. Odd, even though the VA won't hire without the accreditation, I am doing my practicals at the VA. I hope this answered some of the questions. Mike Current SCC Nursing Student (Starting 2 qtr) :devil:SI Vis Pace, Parabellum:devil:
  10. barnowl, :confused:any word yet? did you get in? i know orientation was only today. just wondering. mike :devil:si vis pacem, parabellum:devil:
  11. BarnOwl, The Nursing Club usually has a CPR class that you can take. They will mention this at orientation. I missed the class they had so I had to go to a local provider. CPR Safety Services 1104 W. Wellesley Ave. Suite B Spokane, WA. 99205 In Spokane Call 509-327-2085, outside call: 1 (800) 467-0903 They are a good provider. But it can be expensive, the Nursing club is must less expensive. Mike
  12. BarnOwl, Surg105 is not required, if you already have the AIDS Blood borne Pathogens certificate. If not it is an easy way to get the certificate. Mike:) Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum
  13. BarnOwl, Yeah, They told us about the CPS issue at orientation. I think that took out a few people. I think that they should be a little more upfront about the dis-qualifiers. I think that we lost about 20% of our students after orientation. So with that average you should be able to get in. I am an older student, 40, also. Although there are students older that me in the class. Good Luck, I hope to see you in the fall. Mike Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum
  14. BarnOwl, I am also finishing up my first quarter. It was hard but not as hard as I was worried about. You will probably get in if you are 9th on the wait list. Hopefully you will find out if you are in before orientation. If not, maybe someone will send you the orientation info like I did for dallet. As dallet said people get dropped from the list for lots of reasons. Felonies are a big reason, but the one that surprised me:confused: was when they said that if you had had your child removed by CPS for any reason and for any length of time you will be dropped. Good Luck :smokin:Si Vis Pacem Parabellum:devil:
  15. I think RMFScrubs is great. I just got my order from RMFScrubs. They are good quality scrubs. Not top of the line but they are good quality. The shipping can be a bit slow. It took about 2 weeks from time of order, but they were drop shipped from Pakistan. So if you have a little time, you can save money. I got 3 sets of Unisex 9 Pocket Navy Blue Scrubs, for school, for $47.92 including shipping. The sizes seem to run high, I needed 4XL and I don't have any clothing that size. So, be sure to check the sizing chart. The 4Xs fit great. The transaction was handled through Google checkout. So it was pretty safe. Mike Si vis pacem, para bellum
