College of Dupage letters mailed - Fall 2010
While all on the alternate list may have been accepted, all qualified applicants DID NOT get in. COD accepted 117 and I believe 50 alternates. If all 50 alternates got in, that means 50 of the 117 probably applied to other places and were accepted. There were plenty of people that met the requirements that did not make the initial 117 or the alternate list, so no, not all qualified applicants for Fall 2010 were accepted.

CNA required to become nurse?
Depends on the school. I'm in Illinois, the state does not require it, but many schools do.

Why can't I get hired?
Same exact boat as you. I did get 1 interview and since I have a B.S., they drilled me about leaving when economy picked up. I explained to them that I would not be walking out of nursing school after working so hard on pre-reqs just to get in, then leave to go back to my old career. I told them I needed to work as PCT for 2 years. I didn't get job, and not getting any calls.

Anyone applying for Fall 2011 at College of Dupage?
If you are taking Chem or A&P1 in the Fall at COD, you can submit application before the class is complete. On the application, you will fill out Semester and Year complete and leave grade blank. Records updates everything before they send the apps to review committee. You don't exactly need to apply this early, but I'd get app in by September or October. I saved Chem for last and took it Fall of 2009 and had my application in October 2009. PAX scores will vary each year, but the lowest composite score I heard for students starting Fall 2010 was 115. The national average is 100, so the 117 people that were accepted (self included) all did better than the national average. On another note: While Chem and A&P1 are all that's required to apply, it is very unlikely you will get in that year only having those 2 done, however, you still should apply because you will have an extra point the next year since you've already applied once. The most successful applicant's have all but 1 or maybe 2 classes completed by application time. There are extra points for having most of other degree requirements completed. (Nutrition, Psych, Micro, A&P2, etc.) A lot of people get disappointed because they apply and don't get in only having those 2 done.
