  1. I quit my nursing job a couple months ago because of how toxic it was. I don't want to put this job on my resume or work history on my job application when I apply for a new job since I was only working at this facility for a few days. Plus, I don't want them to know I'm hopping from one job to another. My Question is... Can my new employer find out about my work history? Is it safe for me to not mention about some nursing jobs I had in the past?
  2. I recently got hired at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. I was wondering if anyone here has had experience working at this hospital and was wondering how your experience was like. How are staff like toward new nurses? How's the culture, management, training, etc. Thanks!
  3. El Camino hospital in Mountain View and Los Gatos will be having an RN bridge program to Acute Care this Summer. Nurses who have SNF experience will be able to transition to acute care in this 6 week program. I'm a little curious about what to expect. Has anyone had any experience or know someone who got into this program in the past and how was it like? Thanks!
  4. So... that's it? No more interview invites? ?
  5. What time's did you guys get the interview invites yesterday and today? I'm wondering if they send out the invites throughout the day or all at one time.
  6. I tried updating my documents that I uploaded but I'm unable to put a check mark to make them "Relevant" again. I hope this doesn't affect my application. Also, do you guys think it's too late if I take the basic arrythmia course this Saturday 2/18?
  7. Hi everyone, I just have several questions since I didn't attend the webinar: 1.) What are all the documents we should upload to our profile? 2.) Since we don't have a physical copy of our license, do we just upload our RN Board certificate? 3.) When we upload our documents, in the "Comments about the file", do we type in "Certificate" for all the documents we upload including our resume? 4.) Instructions say to upload our BLS certificate and NOT the e-wallet card. Do we have to upload a card too or only the certificate because the intructions shows a regular BLS card to upload. The instructions they gave us is a bit confusing and was hoping anyone can help LOL. Thanks everyone and good luck!
  8. I know New Grad programs train their nurses in a classroom setting and hospital unit for several months or weeks. How long are nurses who are hired as "Staff Nurse I" trained if they aren't in a New Grad program? I'm sure it may be different for each hospital. Please share any experiences. Thank you!
  9. In the state of California, the consumption of marijuana is legal but still illegal by the federal level. I know that nurses can still get fired from the job if they are tested positive. Many people I know use marijuana for medicinal use which has been more effective than pharmaceutical medications and was wondering if anyone knows if the VA hospitals (Veterans Affairs) in the California Bay Area do monthly random drug testing's especially those in the RN New Grad Program. Does anyone who works or used to work for the VA have experienced random drug testing in the VA? I know some people may get upset from me asking this question. Some might say that "drugs are bad", "it's a bad example from nurses" or "just don't do it, period!". I just want an honest answer to know people’s thoughts and experience. Thank you.
  10. The reason why i want to do the lecture/exams online is because my schools iv cert class exam is very hard and would prefer to do lecture/exam online. Then, just do my schools hands-on in my school. My school does provide both the lecture and hands-on
  11. The plan is to do the hands-on IV at my school but I need to find an online course where there is only lecture and exam. I cant find an online lecture/exam course and was wondering if anyone knew a place where I can do that
  12. My school requires me to be iv certified to be able to get into the RN program. I was wondering if there's anyone from California that knows where I can take an IV course online doing only lectures and exams. I plan to do the lecture and exams online then hopefully do the hands on lab in person at my school. Does anyone know any online schools where I will be able to do that? I need help please =[
  13. I dont know exactly what happened with the whole situation about how indiana states lvn to bsn online program isnt approved by the state of california anymore. Does anyone know if there are any plans for an online lvn to bsn program in california in the near future? Is indiana state planning to have one approved? Just like most lvn's out there, we don't have time to work and attend school at the same time and would prefer to continue our education online to be RN's. Anyone know if any school is planning to have an online program?
  14. Sorry wrong link. This is the link I meant to post on my first post http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-5-TEAS-Practice-Tests/dp/0071767770/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337049148&sr=8-1
  15. I Just passed my nclex-pn last week and planning to join the Indiana state bsn online program. I read that we have to take a TEAS exam. I was looking around online for a study guide that I can study for now while I take my pre Reqs for that school and saw this book online.... http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-5...7049148&sr=8-1 I was wondering if anyone knows if this is the right book for me to study for the TEAS exam at Indiana state. Thanks.
  16. I said syncope, NOT "she go pee"!
  17. Im an lvn graduate. A friend of mine in california told me about an online school called indiana state university. He said that you can take an lvn to rn program. also, he told me its accredited in the state of california and can take the RN nclex afterwards. I tried to do some research and found out they have an "lvn to BS" program. I know this may be a dumb question but does that mean the program is an "LVN to RN" program? or is it a program to be an LVN with a higher degree? I dont know exactly what an "LVN to BS" means. Also, is a BS the same exact thing as a BSN? Also, anyone tried that school and how was it? Thank you.
  18. it says around $18 hourly in my area on the bls.gov website. how would i tell the interviewer?
  19. I have a big interview for a medical assistant job (im also an lvn graduate) and i was wondering what i should say when the interviewer ask me about how much i would like to get paid or what salary am i looking for, etc.. Last time i was asked this question years ago, i told the interviewer a big amount and she ended up not giving me the job lol. any advice? whats the exact words should i say in my answer? i heard i have to say "negotiable" and thats it?... and then what?
  20. i got a letter last week saying i did not pass the nclex-pn the first time:crying2:. i also got a yellow application for retaking the exam. it says to mail the letter and $150. then in about 3-4 weeks i have to pay another $200 bucks when i schedule my exam? could i apply online instead of mailing the application? i tried to apply online but it says pay $200 bucks. im confused:confused:. can someone help? i want to take the exam asap because my qbank questions from kaplan expires in about a month and a half
  21. i didnt turn on the phone. i just took it with me when i went outside for a bit then went back in. they told me it happens a lot there and it shouldnt be a problem
  22. i took my nclex-pn 2 days ago. i went home to use the person trick to find out if i passed or not. at first, i got a pop up that said that my test results are on hold. then today i checked again and it took me to the credit card screen . i did between 110-120 questions on the exam. does this mean i failed? is it accurate? when will i get my results in the mail? im so sad... sigh during my break during the exam i came back to the center and one of the employees said hes going to write an incident report because i had my cell phone with me during break:redlight:. i dont know if this will affect my nclex in any way. also, i heard that pearson reviews my exam first then the board of nursing grade my exam after? so they review it twice?
  23. I just finished taking the nclex-pn about 1-2 hours ago. i went up to 110-120 questions only. I tried the trick that people do to find out if you passed or not. I got a window that says "The candidate currently has test results that are on hold. A new registration cannot be created at this time" is that the good pop up? or is it still early for me to check for the pop up?
  24. are the cubicles tall or small ones? i hope its the one with the tall walls lol
  25. I'm taking the nclex-pn in about 3 weeks:yeah:. i was just wondering what the testing room looks like? are we seated in rows or our own tables?do we sit close to each other? do we have boards that block other testers from seeing other peoples computers(like wooden boards thats around our computer area)? do we use headphones thats connected to our computer? just curious lol
