I agree with ChristineN, I will avoid taking my kids to CNMC as well.

I think Georgetown has a very good Pediatric division. I would try there. I have never worked there but my friends who have liked it there.

Wow. I feel I should have left years ago. After I left that place I definitely have realized sometimes the grass is greener on the other side in reality. Even though where I work now is not as big of a paymaster I feel happier and I feel like I work with real people, nurses and doctors who care about their patients. Management is more hand on, they jump in in patient care as well rather than sitting in their offices and trying to decide who to pick on...

I am referring to Medical unit there. I worked for 4 years and survived but could not take it anymore and many of my coworkers felt harassed as well and left. I do not have much experience with other units but their ICUs share the same reputation. It is a very cliquish place. Either you belong their or you do not. Depending on your race, color etc. you will be accepted or rejected. I felt the tension at the very onset but decided to stay and learn and build my resume.

I would not recommend Children's National at all. I have worked there and I thought it was worst places to work because of hostile management.

Change the people and not the system-are the mistakes going to stop? You were overwhelmed, the system failed you. I am not discounting personal accountability but research shows that even good nurses make big errors if the sytem fails -technology, inadequate staffing, lack of support from the management and bullying it all impacts performance and morale of the staff. The result is bad pt. care. So DON can get somebody else in your place but if things do not change in her organization mistakes will happen again.

Is the program online? How about the Financial Aid? Do you still qualify for Financial Aid in USA?

Sounds like INOVA. They are setting up for big lawsuits and failures.

If you are a good nurse you would check on your patients, if you do not care about your patients you would just check off the sheets and make yourself look good. I hate the way these facilities treat you. I am ready to quit nursing. I was told that I have a safety violation because my hourly rounding was not complete and I did not use the word excellent so the patient was not assured. What is this craziness? Imagine in this job market they treat nurses so badly what are they going to do when it starts getting better. I regret that I spent all this time and money to become a nurse, they shoot themselves on the foot and wonder what is wrong. Nurse quit and do not stay at one place for too long because of this kind of hostile environment. They can give people sign off bonus etc. But reality is there has to be a major shift in the way these organizations treat nurses.

Are you talking about INOVA. I hate that place. All that stupid stuff about -I am going to give you excellent care makes me sick. I have left that sickening place. They are happy when they see those nonsensical rounding logs completed lot of nurses go and at the end of the shift mark them off. They have no meaning and by no means reflect good or bad patient care. They like to treat nurses like waitresses so they never gather enough self esteem to stand up for thmenselves. INOVA Health system is totally screwed up. They do not focus on patients they only focus on the jazzy paperwork.

I just got acceptance letters from Deaconess letter for this summer. I am wondering how do I arrange for my clinicals. I am located in Northern Virginia anybody from that area.
