For those of you who are certified in CPR?
I have always thought there were plenty of other students who were more qualified than me when it came to nursing school........ If you read my past post (the one about the chances of getting into a nursing program), you'll see exactly what I mean. It's a stupid post but it proves my point . I think when people tell themselves that they aren't good enough then they will eventually believe it . When others tell me I can't do it, I only try my best to prove them wrong. Lol life is full of unexpected surprises so anything can happen. Btw, my other user-name is prime11214 and I thought I lost the PW to this account but it turned out that I used the SAME password for the new account! I just never tried it until today haha.

I just got a 59% on my first Anatomy Exam....
I had the worst teacher ever for A&P1 but he was the only teacher left so I had no choice but to enroll in his classes. I didn't know until the end of the semester but he scaled the scores. At least I think he did! If she sucks as a teacher then you have to pull in all your effort to study it yourself. Find online info about your chapters and don't count on her for anything! Read your textbook and take notes.. A&P1 is hard and it covers a lot of material! Don't give up because of one exam. Try a lot harder for the next one.

How many schools?
3. I get one reply back mid-March which is very soon. Crap grades, never took the TEAS, crap essay. Lol.. I'll post when I get rejected or waitlisted. I really don't mind telling the world I failed.
-
What did you do when you got rejected?
I had imaginary thoughts of suicide lol . I know. Suicide isn't funny but I was never thinking of acting on it! Anyways.. What happened when you got rejected from a nursing school you applied to? Edit. I didn't get rejected from any school yet but I assumed I did. lol
-
The wait is BRUUUUTAAAAL
I get to hear back from ONE nursing school I applied to around Mid-March. I don't care if I got accepted or not because I already applied to other schools with a different major... Nursing is my first choice but it isn't my only choice. It's so competitive that I gave up on the thoughts of pursuing it! You should have a back-up like I did so you wouldn't have to deal with anxiety. :)

How does the waiting list work?
Ugh. I'm said I'm not on any wait list lol.

Nurses who can't spell
Sometimes ppl dont feel like righting out all the words or putting punctuation in there sentences because they are to lazy to type properly and they just want to get there point across Like that ;D
-
How does the waiting list work?
Say if they had open spots for 60 students and I didn't get picked but I was number #5 on the wait list. Out of those 60 students, 5 would have to not enroll for me to get in? I'm not on any wait list but I'm just wondering how it works.

Big envelope = accepted. Small = rejected?
I need to prepare myself. If I get a big envelope, I'll open it ASAP and see if I really got accepted. If I get a small one, I'll start crying and I won't open it until somebody makes my day worse. And when my day can't get any worse, I'll open it up! :) If you got wait-listed, what kind of envelope would you get?
-
Would this be considered cheating?
I never even thought about that! I honestly think he is a lazy professor and he's too lazy to change the questions...
-
Would this be considered cheating?
I didn't mean to "cheat".. I was just trying to help a person out and I think I helped her enough I feel like giving her the first exam was wrong too! And that I should have just helped her study instead. I can't take back what I did now; what's done is done. I'll take what I learned and move on.
-
Would this be considered cheating?
I took A&P2 last semester and now a "friend" is taking it this semester. I still had all my tests and hw that counted towards your grade. She works full-time and she also has a child and I could see her struggling. It's hard for her to study when she barely had time to study! She asked me if I could "lend" her one of my exams from last semester and I was really happy to give it to her. It gave her an idea of how the exam will be set up and I didn't want her to stress over the first exam. :) .. Because the teacher didn't really change the questions around, she did really good. She thanked me and I was really happy to see her overjoyed. Well.. She asked me for the 2nd exam .. Ok first of all....... I worked my butt studying for every single exam ... I feel like she's not even going to try anymore because all she is doing is studying the question/answer. I already helped her out with the first one so she wouldn't stress over an exam but now.. she's just asking for more! I don't want to give her my second exam. Don't get me wrong, I want her to do good but I want her to do it on her own! I don't want her to "suffer" all the hardwork and stress that comes along with it but doesn't everyone? In a way, she is cheating but that's my fault..... SO I'm cheating too!!. My intention was to relieve her stress and anxiety.. What do you guys think of this? PS.. She doesn't even ask for HELP.. I would be glad to help her. She just wants my exams and hw

Where do I put VENT posts (Are they even allowed)?
Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I did not drop out of that class because it was only worth a quiz grade. I was just having a bad day and I woke up to a brand new day.

Here are the chances of getting into a nursing program.
Applying straight from high school vs applying as a transfer are 2 separate things. Your chances were higher. I never took my ACT unfortunately. Congrats though. :)

Here are the chances of getting into a nursing program.
150/900+? That's almost equivalent to 60/400 ... I do have other things to focus on. I DID mention that my statistics were assumptions. I'll make a whole new and more realistic statistic when I have time. And I finally got an e-mail back from the admission's office! (After waiting a week.) I will have to wait about 6-8 weeks for decisions.

Yes I counted 5 seats twice. They were for different reasons. Out of those 400 applicants, at least 100 have a lower GPA than me and at least 100 have either the same or a higher gpa than me. And I am being realistic about everything. I'm being unrealistic if I say that I have an equal chance of getting in as a person whose GPA is a lot higher than mine. I guess that's how life is. How would you feel if you hoped so much for one thing but you just couldn't get a hold of it. I don't feel this way towards getting into the nursing program because I'm NOT hoping anymore. (after looking at it realistically) I've hoped for better things in the past but hoped failed me. It brought my world down and tore me into a million pieces.

Where do I put VENT posts (Are they even allowed)?
I missed 2 classes today. Forgot to set up my alarm. The worst part was that today I had an exam. I can't make it up and now I have a 0 for that exam.. Me and my classmate got into a LITTLE argument (through text) and she made it a big deal so it turned out to be a big one and now it's going to be extremely awkward when I see her in school. . Me and my boyfriend is still on a break and I miss him. !! . It's been like 3 days. I have another exam to study for tomorrow but I just don't feel like doing it because I feel this way. I feel like I'm at the bottom of the well and nobody cares about me. I try to read a book and get things off my mind but I just can't. The thing that is bugging me the most is the exam I missed. My day couldn't get any worse. I have so much work to do other than study for the exam tomorrow but I need a push...

Assumptions can be correct and they can be wrong. In this case, it's most likely right. C'mon now.. You're looking at over 400 applications. Don't you think at LEAST 60 would have a GPA higher than 3.5? My competition isn't with those who has a lower GPA than I. It's the ones that applied with high GPAs.

Here are the chances of getting into a nursing program.
I have to check with my advisers on that one. I'm not saying trying to get into the nursing program is impossible. It's just TOUGH WORK. I just can't do that. Even though I didn't get my acceptance letter yet, I'm just going to assume I already got rejected. You have a super slim chance of getting in with a GPA lower than 3.5! (Unless you score high on your entrance exams or SATs or maybe if you write an outstanding essay or if you have superb recommendations.) They want outstanding students, not mediocre. I'm too mediocre for them so I'm going to find other careers. Anyways, I don't know what I'm going to major in yet, but I'll look into it after I finish up this semester.

Passed my bp check off this morning!!!
Congrats!! But what is a bp checkoff?

Here are the chances of getting into a nursing program.
I didn't take any entrance exams lol. I would score high on it. My SAT scores are low because I only took it once and I didn't even study. Actually, for a person that didn't study, I did decent. And I don't want to reapply for nursing schools. I'm just going to go into a different major. :)

Here are the chances of getting into a nursing program.
Alright so I've read a lot of posts on this website and I've spend quite a while doing research on the chances of getting into the nursing program. I applied to 3 schools and I thought I had a chance but statistically speaking, I don't. My gpa is a 3.2/3.3. (1 D ruined it all) I wrote an essay that doesn't stand out; mediocre. My SAT scores suck. I'm a transfer student. BUT. I did take all the pre-reqs and I have about 12 classes in total. (Not including the 5 I'm taking now.) Note: The following information are assumptions. Colleges get about 400 applications a year. THIS IS NOT FOR EVERY COLLEGE. I'm just averaging it out. There are some universities where they only get about 200 apps a year and other universities can get almost 600 (maybe even above.) I'm gonna go with 400 since it's a pretty good number. Out of 400 they will only accept about 50-60 students. I'll just say 60. That gives me a 15% of getting in. But I will eliminate the bad apps. Out of the 400, 100 will have a GPA lower than a 3.0. And let's assume they base this mostly on academic GPA. So now I have a 20% chance of getting accepted. Out of those 300. I will assume that 100 has at least a 3.5 GPA. But only 50 will have their prereqs done. So that eliminates another 50. Now it's down to 250. I have a 24% chance of getting in. OUT OF THOSE 250, 40 wrote extremely bad essays bringing the number down to 210. Now I have a 28% chance of getting accepted. I am now competing with 210 applicants. Out of those 210, 5 will take courses unrelated to the nursing program. That brings me up 1%. With 205 left, I'm assuming that at least 25 applicants have a better gpa than me. That brings my chances down to 17%. Now there are only 35 spots left. Another 5 is gonna be filled with outstanding students, which brings me down to 14%. 30 will go to the people ranging from 3.0-3.5. 5 spots will be given to students with great recommendations and mediocre GPA, which eliminates me since I don't have recommendations. I now have a 12% chance of getting in. 10 will go to mediocre applicants with good essays and a good SAT score. That brings me down to 7%. Well I don't feel like doing the rest of the math but I came to the conclusion that I have a really slim chance of getting in! Getting into the nursing program is tough work and I'm just not cut out for it. I felt like writing this because now I'm going to STOP HOPING FOR NO REASON and move on and think about other careers. Nursing isn't my only option.

How long does it take for an acceptance or rejection letter to arrive?
540 applications  ?! I didn't think it would be that many! One of my universities I applied to is going to get a decision made by March 15th.. As for the other schools I applied to, I have no clue when I'll get the letter. I thought out of all those applications, they pick out certain ones and if you qualify, they will review your all your stuff after Feb. 1st.. They sent out a letter to those who qualified and I got a letter but I'm starting to think everyone who sent in an application got one. -,-
