OK thanks! What about taxes? I said single and claiming 0. They’re deducting $220 a month for taxes. Do I need to pay the difference? Will I end up paying more income taxes next year?

Yes. That’s what I planned on doing. It does look like some taxes were deducted from the loan because my deposit was less than what the worksheet said it would be. In the contract it says, “No portion of the Nurse Corps LRP payments made directly to the Applicant shall be used to pay taxes due to Federal, State, or local authorities.” That doesn’t mean I need to make up the $200 difference from what the worksheet said I would be getting, correct?

Does it matter if we pay one qualified loan at a time or does the money need to be decided up amongst all qualified loans?

I would like to talk to someone who has already been in this program for a while or is done with it. I cannot attend the webinar and I would like to know what some of the rules are for this program. Thanks!

The pdf guide says you can after award is finalized if you’re going to a csf with the same or greater needs.

No I haven't yet! I've been asking around and Ive heard St. Mary's RN's make more than Spectrum RN's hourly. I've also heard they have less patients. Please let me know if you find anything out! :)

Thanks for the feedback! Where do you work now? I've never been one to push for more pay, but I think asking for what I make now is reasonable.

Hi there, I'm planning to move to Grand Rapids within the next year. I have almost 4 years experience on a med-surg unit and I have my BSN. I'd like to know which hospitals you recommend in the GR area. I'm open to trying different units. I would like to go somewhere that has similar wages ($32/hr + 8% night shift differential) and benefits. I'm open to all RN job suggestions, but when it comes down to it, i'd prefer to be in a hospital to stay on night shift. Thanks in advanced! :)

I applied in September for their RN program and took TEAS today. Hopefully going to get a call for the interview soon. :) My goal is to start January 2011.

Thanks RNTutor! The sad thing is I've already been to the meeting and the lady there was NOT helpful at all. She didn't even mention anything about cohort groups! She literally seemed like she was just trying to get everyone to run the other direction.

I will have to talk to someone at TCC because what they have in their nursing packet is really confusing. Plus for the 5th semester, I see the last class going from May to October. Which is weird to have the program end in October. I don't get their 5 semester layout anyway because 3 of the cllasses in the first semester will be done already, leaving 2 nursing classes, then 2, then 1 - because I plan to have all my pre-req's and gen. eds done before I begin... Which isn't a lot.

Thanks! I did look into TCC's cohort groups. The earliest I would be able to apply is Sept. 2010. Then I would be randomly placed into a cohort group in Aug. 2011, Oct. 2011, Jan 2012, or Mar 2012. It says in the packet they have 5 semesters (that are 8 weeks long?) So lets say I got lucky and was in the Aug. 2011 group. When would I be done? Summer of 2012? Because this might work! It just depends on the time-line of the nursing classes and which cohort group I get placed in...

actually, i take the 2nd post back. my adviser said they will not recognize a degree from sentara - but when i asked her about mci, she said "you can go anywhere you want. it is the rn license that we award credit for – not the school."

Also - I already looked into going to ODU's RN-BSN program after MCI - and they will not recognize any degree from MCI and I would have to repeat many of the same classes!

Hi. I'm thinking about going to MCI. I wanted to know if it's considered an RN or BSN. Also, if it is considered an RN - Could I go to a RN-BSN program? If so, do you know anyone who has done this? Also, I'd like to hear from some people who have completed this program. My main concern is the differences between this and a 4-year BSN program. (Will i be paid different? Will I have a different title? Will I have less responsibilities? Will I have any trouble finding a job at a hospital?) Thank you

Okay... I was looking at their program and I noticed it is just a "BS" program, not a BSN. I'm trying to see if this will hold me back from nursing opportunities... Do you know anyone who has graduated from this program? Do they have normal nurse jobs - or is their pay/responsibilities lower?

Wow thank you! This is soo helpful! I'm wondering if their schedule is 5 days a week. (I know ODU likes to set up their nursing schedules so that you HAVE to be their 5 days a week, all day.) Do you know if they are accredited - and my degree would be recognized nationwide? Do you know their NCLEX pass rates? Thank you sooo much! Luckily I won't be required to work during school... I have a gas-friendly car... And maybe moving to Hampton would be a good compromise (because my hubby works on Norfolk.) Thanks again!
