You guys & gals for the November board may start to hear results soon...maybe as early as monday of next week (not today since veterans day). I fould out results a week before the estimated release date. What is your desired COT date?

Expect the CN to go over things such as career goals, why you want to join, your educational background, work experience, and bases that you may want to look at based on your career goals. At what base are you doing your CN interview?

Is the acceptance letter the same as signing all of the papers. In my Acceptance letter at the bottom i have to sign my name, date, and write SS #. Is this the binding contract paper, or do we get a more detailed contract with all of the fine print? Thanks, IowaRNBSN

I'm Selected!

Just found out that I have been selected! :yeah:My recruiter did not have my assignment yet, but should have it by next friday. Apparently the selection rate was 57%. IowaRNBSN

Still waiting here too. It looks like everybody notified so far will be going to the OCT COT, so maybe oct cot dates get first notification because it is only weeks away.

Have not heard of anything yet. 10 days to go until the release of results....

Welcome to waiting...it is going to be a long 2.5 weeks til we find out the results. Which COT date did you request? Bases? How may years experience do you have?

What state is your recruiter based out of?

I must say my current active duty recruiter along with my air force reserve recruiter are nothing but awesome.

Reviewed is just saying that the board is looking over your package to determine rank order. The board considers all packages that they receive from the recruiters. The board places that packages in rank order for each identifier (job), so the best most qualified candidate would be number 1 followed by each successive candidate’s package. They are then given a number of how many people are going to be picked up for each identifier (job), so let us say for example there are 100 candidates with the ER identifier, the board gets a number back that they are allowed to pick up 40 candidates, so the first 40 candidates (1-40) are selected. AFRS (Air Force Recruiting Services) is the group that selects the candidates. The selected packages are then sent to AFPC (Air Force Personnel Center) to review the assignment (location that candidate would be stationed at). Hope this helps, IowaRNBSN

I would say that it is a positive sign in the very least that your package is being reviewed at boards. Keep your fingers crossed. BTW, what identifier/position did you apply for? IowaRNBSN

19 days until the board meets. 6 Weeks from today we should know! I want to know now, but I also do not to have my summer go by in a flash. So much time has been devoted to getting to this point, and sitting back and waiting for results is excruciatingly difficult. I would like to be able to plan my next 6 months. IowaRNBSN

What date did you put down as your preferred COT date for the active duty board? IowaRNBSN

I would have been able to accept the flight nurse position and commission and then send my package to fully qualified active duty boards, but the approval process took too long, so it is on hold. 6 weeks until I know. (BTW you should visit airforceots.com sometime. Lots of great info about the air force there. BTW recruiter asked me if I wanted to put down the October COT date as my first choice.... but I decided on January seeing as October would give me just shy of 60 days to get everything in order. I have had long talks with my recruiter about boards (EXCELLENT RECRUITER!). Here is some info that I got from a conversation (I have edited the names). Here is some info I got from TSgt R: Board: 11NC04 Package Quality Control Starts this week on submitted packages Cutoff for packages: June 28, 2011 Cutoff for changes to packages: July 12, 2011 Board start date: July 26th, 2011 Estimated Release date of Results: August 19th, 2011 Col. C. AFRS Reviews Packages Lt. Col. G. AFPC Reviews Assignments (Same Lt. Col that conducted my interview) Positions available at 11NC04 Board 185 Total Positions available Med-Surg/Clinical- 70 positions Critical Care- 20 Emergency- 15 OB- 30 OR- 20 Clinic-15 Other-15 *may mix and match based on need As far as chances or odds at this board, TSgt R. thinks I have a pretty good shot at getting in. He guessed that I have and 85-90 percent chance. Stated that in years past there has not been this many spots available (185 positions). Also, with the last board for fully qualified nurses he said that initially the Air Force non-selected many applicants, but ended up calling non-selects back up when they found out that their budget was increased for new nurses, so they may be hesitant to non-select people at this board. In past years (before downturn in economy) selection rate has been or been close to 100 percent...this board could be 100 percent, especially considering that there may not be enough applicants at the 11NC04 board to fill all positions. TSgt R. eluded to the fact that he only has 4 applicants going to board and that he covers a 6 state area, stated that for midwest that he knows of only 16 applicants being submitted to the fully qualified board 11NC04 board. However, Col C. has been known to be stricter on requirements since being at the AFRS, though that may change if there are not enough applicants and may have change of mind after having to call up a large ammount of non-selects. Commissioning dates depend on COT date in general. For example, COT 12-02 which starts Jan 09, 2012, commissioning would take place around the end of September to the beginning of October. He said that they usually try to get commissioning completed as soon as possible. Once commissioning has taken place, would be considered non-paid in the Air Force Reserves until you leave for assigned COT date. FYI, he said that my scroll has been completed for the Air Force Active duty and for Air Force Reserve. It is scrolled for both branches because the newly commissioned are, as mentioned, considered/enrolled into the Air Force Reserve until they leave for COT. If selected for Active Duty, TSgt R. stated that I would know around the Estimated Release Date of August 19th 2011. Would know results if selected by end of month at latest. Once selected, they have OATH OUT, which means that the oath needs to be completed within 14 days from when it is out. Other information that was conveyed was that Col C. could call people directly while at board to question them about their experience, ask about placement, or what specialty, goal they have. This is a good sign and means that they are interested in you, and trying to find the best fit for placement. Once selected, you are paired with a sponsor from the base that you are going to the relays information such as housing, lodging, areas of interest, ect. Can go to the Military Clothing Store and start getting uniforms for COT.

I was offered the Flight Nurse position for reserves (Application approved), but it is on hold until I get the results back from fully qualified active duty boards, which takes place July 27...I will not know the results until August 19th. So it is a waiting game now. It looks like I have a pretty good shot at getting in for active duty, but I am not going to say it is 100 percent certain. Recruiter estimated a 90 percent chance... In general the Air Force likes a GPA above 3.0. A variety of factors go into selection for the AF, so be sure continue to work on things such as volunteering, leadership opportunities, in addition to keeping your grades up.
