Med Pass
I don't know about other states but in Fl. med techs only need 4 hr training class which isn't enough time ro learn how to use the MOR much less the actions and adverse effects of drugs. We use M.T.'s nut I am not.happy with that practice

When asked "what meds are you giving me?"
As with all of you, I pass hundreds of meds in a med pass so it is not easy to remember all of them. It takes time and there is nothing wrong with admitting that you will have to check it out for them. Always remember to go back later and explain it to them so as not to lose your credibility. Most of the residents/patients just want to make sure you are willing to be of assistance to them. I like the post that suggested not opening the package until you get to the room and therefore know exactly what you are giving no matter how many you have.

Is nursing a sick , petty , vindictive world?
This is not only an accurate view of nursing, it is an accurate view of life. Nurses are people and you can't stop the pettiness of some people so get over it and just go for your goal doing the best job that you can do. Then you will be able to sleep at night.

Trifling, tricky, 2 faced cnas!!. what to do what to do??
From my experience in the 15 yrs. I have been charge nurse on the floor to DON which I am now, I have to go into work with the attitude to be friendly to all my associates but friends to none. I do my job to the best of my ability and there will always be staff, residents, and family members who love you and some who hate you but you have to live with yourself and that means treating everyone like you would like to be treated. I know from your post that you care for your staff and residents/patients. So don't be dismayed that you hear rumors that people have said things about you behind your back b/c that is the way some people function. It is not your fault and there is nothing you can do about it. You are doing a good job and that's all you need to focus on.

I am content to be an LPN...is that wrong?
I have been an LPN for 15 yrs. and am very happy where I am. I work at an assisted living facility in central Fl. as a Res. Care Coordinator and LPN on the floor. I feel my job is very rewarding and am satisfied with what I do. I became an LPN at the age of 40 and no desire to go back to school.
