I am done with nursing. Going to start a new profession possibly in OT or PT. Love the patient interaction but hate the nursing role. Nurses get screwed these days. They are putting more and more responsibilities on us as if we didn't have enough already. Wish I would have never went for nursing. I encourage all students who want to major in nursing to shadow a nurse for a while and talk to many nurses who will be honest with them. I wish I would have done that.

I have been a nurse for around 3 years and loved it at first but am now very burnt out. I have tried 3 different areas and feel that I need a new profession. Sad to say but all of my nursing class has moved on to a Masters or new profession. I am considering a Masters in OT. I wish someone would have told me the truth about nursing and how mentally and physically draining it is before I started. I may be negative but I am just telling what I and many of my nurse friends feel. Good luck!

So did you decide to stick it out? I have went through 3 jobs and am considering going back for a Masters in Occupational Therapy.

I graduated from South in 2007. They mainly look at GPA and if you have failed/re-taken any classes etc. Tuff school but great education. I can say that I was very advanced as to some other new nurses. Good Luck.

I just got offered a travel position in the PCU at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers FL. Does anyone have any info on what it is like? I don't want to take the assignment if it has crappy conditions.
