  1. I think it was about a 3.7 at that time
  2. First of all they dont discriminate so being a male does not put you at a disadvantage. They do accept people w/o 4.0's, I know b/c I am one of those people. If you continue to get A's you should be fine but it gets more competitive each year. If things dont work out there are a number of 4 year schools in the area.....in the long run attending a 4 yr school is probably your best option b/c hospitals especially those with magnet status are hiring AD nurses less and less.
  3. I started the NCC nursing program last spring and transfered to SBU in the fall. I live in Lynbrook and while the commute sucks I LOVE SB's nursing program. NCC is only 15 min from my house as well but the hour it takes me to get to class each day is well worth it considering the time I saved had I gotten an ASN and then BSN.
  4. Hospitals on LI such as Stony Brook and the LIJ network will not take ADNs w/ If you already have a bachelor's then the BSN is the better option and will take the same amount of time as a ADN. I am currently enrolled in Stony Brook's nursing program if you have any questions I am happy to answer them.
  5. They are really rude at the NCC nursing office. I know b/c I started nursing at NCC but have since transfered to Stony Brook. Just FYI very few hospitals hire new ADN so you are better off attending a school that will provide you with a BSN. Good luck...
  6. hmm......Not sure what the point is here but a wait list does not go on for years....
  7. Its not a matter of not wanting to hear it, it's just incorrect. That isn't what a wait list is. Thats what I was trying to clarify.
  8. I dont mean to call you out but thats not a wait list. If the pool of applicants is becoming increasingly competitive then there is no wait time for an individual. They just wouldnt make the cut.
  9. Wow sorry to hear that but I am really surprised you didnt get in.....Do you mind me asking what your undergrad degree was in?
  10. How could a school have a wait list of 2 - 4 yrs? There's no way they could foresee the pool of applicants that far in advance.
  11. Is NUR 101 really that bad? All I hear is how tough they are, which I am fine with as long as Im learning. Do many students not make it through 101?
  12. Yea I took Micro last semester and I just signed into banner at 8am on the first day of registration to enroll. I didnt even know they would let people stand around campus at such a crazy time. So as a side note I spoke with my Dr about the NCC program and while he said that NCC RNs are very intelligent he said their practical skills are deficient, has anyone heard this. Also, where did everyone buy their textbooks (other than fundamentals)? The books store is just too expensive.
  13. For those starting the program next semester - are you buying the skirt or the pant scrubs? And how many are you buying?
  14. What did you guys think of the interview? I wasn't expecting that....I thought it was just a sit down with one other person.
