  3. hello neuronrn: i commend you for doing such great research as part of your decision process on where to advance your nursing education. in response to your post..... [color=#a52a2a]preceptors umdnj recognizes that finding preceptors certainly can be a challenging process for our students and most other nursing schools. to address this, we are in the process of hiring a clinical placement coordinator to help secure clinical sites and enhance the working relationships among all parties. we also have a student-run advanced practice mentoring group where more experienced students (mentors) are matched with incoming graduate students according to specialty. finding and working with preceptors is one of the topics consistently addressed by this group. [color=#a52a2a]merger regarding our planned merger with rutgers university, the overriding goal is that student issues come first and that students are never impacted in a negative way. we are in the process of creating merger-related faqs and welcome your specific questions related to the merger. feel free to message me offline with your questions, or post them here. best wishes in your educational journey. lynn mcfarlane, director of marketing and communications, umdnj-school of nursing

  5. I checked with our nursing student recruiter in Newark and here is her answer. Good luck with your application and and feel free to contact Mae directly with future questions about the program in Newark.... "All applicants need to apply to either the full time accelerated BSN program or to the part time BSN program. They cannot apply to both at once and they also need to select one campus (Newark or Stratford)." Hope this helps, Mae Mae G. 7. dear prospective applicants, please note important changes regarding the bsn program at umdnj effective march 2011 for applicants to the fall 2011 term, all of your courses must be completed prior to submitting your application. this means progress reports will no longer be accepted and your application will not be reviewed until all required documents, including proof of your completed pre-reqs are submitted. applications for the fall term will be available beginning march 1st and the deadline is may 20th. please view the website for details on the new application procedures and deadlines: http://sn.umdnj.edu/academics/accelbsn/faq-absn.htm these changes are due to the fact we are now accepting applications online only, through the new nursing centralized application system (n-cas). this system will allow you to create your own account and check the status of your application and related documents. additional updates: accelerated bsn program, stratford campus seats are still open for summer (may 2011) admission on the stratford campus. the application deadline has been extended until march 15, 2011. part time bsn program, newark campus seats are still open for summer (may 2011) admission to the part time program. the application deadline has been extended until march 15, 2011. this new program is just starting up and is currently offered only on the newark campus. please contact a nursing student recruiter on the newark or stratford campus, or or our enrollment services offices if you have questions regarding these changes. good luck! lynn mcfarlane director of marketing & communications

  12. Greetings prospective and current BSN students at UMDNJ-SN. Since I know you folks are focused on getting in school and getting through our program, I thought you might enjoy seeing some photos of UMDNJ's first stand-alone Nursing Pinning Ceremony, held Dec. 16, 2010 for the accelerated BSN students graduating January 2011. You can VIEW THE PHOTOS HERE>>Pinning Ceremony, UMDNJ-School of Nursing, Newark Campus, Dec. 16, 2010 - a set on Flickr We typically hold our pinning ceremonies as part of Convocation. Not sure how we will do the next one, but rest assured it will be an exciting event. Lynn, UMDNJ-School of Nursing marketing and communications
  13. dear kittyinnj; thanks for your reply. yes, at umdnj we continually emphasize the need for a strong support system to excel in the accelerated bsn program. the center for academic success is ramping up its efforts in this area with initiatives like the peer mentoring program and we encourage students to get involved. however, i must take issue with your "we're just nursing students" statement, even though you meant it as a joke. if nurses/nursing students don't stop comparing themselves negatively to physicians (or medical students), how will we effectively combat negative images of nurses in the media and in the workplace? :yeah:you might want to check out this website, which offer news and resources aimed at improving the public image of the nursing profession: http://www.truthaboutnursing.org/ good luck with your studies and please feel free to stop by and visit me any time. i am on the newark campus in the dean's suite (11th floor). best regards, lynn mcfarlane
  14. dear bethieanne, please contact me directly so we can devise the best way to work together on this. you can email me at the school at my umdnj account under lynn mcfarlane. don't want to miss your reply. happy new year.
