  1. Does anybody know the difference between a litmann classic ii pediatric stethoscope and a 3m classic ii pediatric stethoscope? There is a $40 dollar difference between the two but i can't tell if that is simply because one is being offered from amazon and the other is some random seller on amazon.... I googled, but had no luck Here's a link to both: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Littmann-Classic-Pediatric-Stethoscopes/dp/B008UZUQ1U/ref=sr_1_110?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1345436496&sr=1-110&keywords=pediatric+stethoscope http://www.amazon.com/Littmann-Classic-Pediatric-Chestpiece-Caribbean/dp/B004W744TA/ref=sr_1_12?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1345435992&sr=1-12&keywords=pediatric+stethoscope

  3. Heres the link to Tennessee: Realize its an old thread but for anyone happening across this... http://health.state.tn.us/boards/Nursing/PDFs/Endorsement_App_RN.pdf
  4. Hi all- Just started "stalking" this thread recently. I applied to Vanderbilt's FNP program early decision on December 1st. In February i received an email from them stating that my goals were better fit to pediatrics. This statement is true, i do intend to work with children. They asked if i would like to revise my goal statement of if i would like to be transferred for consideration into Pediatrics. I told them i would like to be considered for pediatrics and was informed this week that i had been accepted. This whole situation has me a bit confused and i wonder if anyone could lend some advice or knowledge... 1. How hard is it to change specialties? 2. How long does it take to get additional specialties? 3. Is it difficult to work in pediatrics with an FNP degree? The reason i chose family originally was because of my belief that it would be less limiting then a pediatric degree and would allow me freedom throughout my career. Is this true? 4. As a general rule, how do reputable hospitals feel about accelerated degrees? I'm still waiting to hear from the University of Washington, i was wait listed at OHSU. Also, i'm from the Seattle Area.... as it seems quite a few people on here are. COOL! Thanks!
  5. Hi! i'm a RN-ADN and am currently working on my RN-BSN. I'm working on a case study discussing the usage of a NG tube and the ethics pertaining to the situation that surrounds it. The question is whether to continue the use of the tube to sustain life, d/c the tube, or keep the tube in for hydration purposes only. My professor gave me the last one, and i have to admit i'm a bit confused. What would be the purpose of keeping in an NG tube just for hydration? Is this a comfort measure? Maintain sodium/electrolyte balance? Remain hydrated....? Anyone know?
  6. Maybe! I'll ask him! :)
  7. I have a friend who went to a place REALLY close to mexico he can quote- walk across.
  8. I'm still a new grad, hehe. i passed my boards in december! I think its always easy to find SOME job, just not a job you want. The ones you want are generally the ones everyone else wants too so its highly competitive It certainly makes it easier to find a job if you have experience (which is why i'm currently working at a spot i'm not ecstatic about) In terms of interviews- i think the biggest thing to remember is that taking a long moment to pause, think, and be okay with the silence before you answer makes a HUGE difference.
  9. ponytail with those weird prewrap things you use for sports injuries. Its the best stuff ever- and headache free! Plus you can buy it in a million colors! YAY! I used to use it for soccer and still LOVE it!
  10. I had this same issue, if you are willing to relocate there are definitely a lot of areas that are high need. I know Texas is one of them. I understand about the new nursing thing.... i'm a new grad too and am working home health, thus far i feel like i am LOSING my knowledge because i'm doing the same old stuff every day. I'm there for the experience and am still applying for residency programs. You should start looking for residency programs and see what happens. Good luck!
  11. Hi! I'm a new grad RN and have been thinking about volunteering for the past several years. I don't know if anyone has any good advice on this.... I have considered the peace corps but have decided against it because they have a 27 month commitment. Ideally.... i would love some sort of volunteer organization where i can travel for weeks or months at a time to needy areas (wherever, national or international) for low cost. Does anybody have any advice/experience about this?
  12. In my experience it doesn't matter. Patient says they have pain- it is exactly what they say it is. They get the med.
  13. I don't think that you can... your school has to use them. Your best bet is to try amazon, ebay, and half. I know people sell the books and DVD's because people are often willing to pay a lot for them.
  14. Took all ATI's, passed all, got a 99% on predictor and passed NCLEX-RN first time. I'd say it works :)
  15. YES! Got my quick results on new years eve!
