Hello HippieChicc, I am also a civilian who just received the infamous email stating I have been accepted to the USAGPAN program for 2012. I'm assuming NEU acceptance is the next step? Can you please educate me on the process you went through! The more detailed the merrier! Thank you so much for your time! I am nervous and excited! How is everything going?

Hello, I was accepted for the start date in summer 2012 for the USAGPAN program as a civilian. I am waiting for the acceptance letter in the mail which will come in a couple of weeks. Will this letter detail the next steps? Is anyone a civilian too and knows what the next step is? I'm assuming getting a NEU letter is next...? Please help, nervous and excited!

Hello, I am a recent hire to the VA. I am definitely interested in the CRNA program. I am in the process of getting some of the classwork done...organic/ccrn/cmc and so on...I'm a little confused as to the amount available for civilian applicants...can anyone give me some info for the year 2010 and the future??

We are women...and nurses. Nurses have to be in touch with their emotions in order to be catering to someone elses. I went through an accelerated program. I can handle extremely high stress levels and am seen as a "tough cookie"....but I still hit a point where I cried a couple of times I didn't even understand why. Whether its not addressing something right away and tucking an insecurity deep down...we are all going to do it. Because we care. It could be grades, clinicals, or someone being an ass that we didnt expect....it happens. Its just the ones who make it public I can't stand. A true sport goes home and cries in his/her room with the door closed. haha!

My answer would be a big fat YES! Every new grad in my class who had a CNA job prior were offered jobs first. Try and navigate what job you apply for and eventually end up in at graduation time. It's clutch! Being a tech gives you the basics of care. Always a plus in building confidence and better understanding the nursing world.

I'm in the same boat. Adult/Peds/Trauma/Burn ICU, Level 1 plus new grad. I am excited about the range of experiences I will be exposed to! I start in Feb. Let me know how things go!!!!

I will be starting on the Burn Unit at a Level 1 trauma hospital in Feb 2010. I'm a new grad and am thrilled with the opportunity. My ultimate goal is also CRNA school. I started out as a tech in the PACU and snuck into surgeries to shadow every chance I could. My Burn Unit also takes ICU patients also. I took this job with the hope of autonomy on my unit and establishing a unique set of knowledge I can bring to a CRNA program. Its my understanding that schools choose a variety of backgrounds for each class. Can anyone tell me otherwise? Advice for an ambitious/eager to learn BSN? LadyinGreen (hence my scrub color :))

CNA's at UNMC can start anywhere from 10-12 dollars/hr. depending on the unit and intensity of the job.
