New Grad HH Orientation Sufficient?
Hi everyone! I will be graduating from my ADN program in December and am starting to think about applying to positions at the local hospital which is paying for my education through a scholarship program. The process is to apply to one of their orientations/internships such as med/surg, critical care, the OR and home care. I've read a lot of posts on this board discouraging new grads from home health because of a lack of clinical knowledge and I completely understand this and don't want to be unsafe in my practice. I am, however, really interested in home health and am wondering if the orientation offered by this hospital is enough in your opinion? They offer 3 months orientation on a med/surg floor followed by 3 or more months orienting in home health (all at full GN pay). Following that they have very supportive management to take calls and even come out to help according to a friend who has done this program. What do you think?

single mother returning to school for rn licence
I recently separated from my abusive husband as well. I have three children (all under 10) and am in my second semester of a two-year RN program. I love nursing and have recently started working as a patient care assistant on a med/surg telemetry floor of a hospital. For the first time in 10 years I feel like I am fulfilling my potential and my children are so much better for it... I am so happy for you and your chance to start over after what I'm sure was a nightmare. If nursing is where you feel led, then definitely go for it!

How many classes are mom's taking at once?
I am a mom to three sons ages 10, 5 and 4. Currently I am about to finish my second semester of an ADN program (I'll graduate next Dec). In addition I work part-time and my husband (who just returned from a one year deployment) and I are separated. I love nursing school (even though it is a challenge!) and work as a PCA at my local hospital. I know it will be SO worth it when I finish! It definitely CAN be done!! You just have to make up your mind that you are going to do it and stick with that. As far as child care, I am very fortunate to have family near by to help me with my boys, and hire a babysitter when necessary.

Prayers needed!
She has my prayers - both for healing and comfort when she becomes aware. What a sad situation, but she is very fortunate to have a coworker seeking out prayer for her.
