Typical day and salary for Psychiatric HH Nurse
Hi guys, I would just like to find out about a typical day for a psychiatric home health nurse and the pay range for this position. I know the pay varies, I just need an approximate range. Also, how much education further than a the basic ADN degree does one need for this type of work? Thanks a bunch!! Mary :)

Day in the life of a Psych Nurse?
I posted this earlier, dont think it went through...anyway, Could any of you describe your day from beginning to end working as a Psychiatric Nurse? Any type of setting, but I am particularly interested in those working in community mental health centers and hospitals as basic staff RNs. I am taking nursing pre-reqs, but still considering social work ..I have heard there is much more one on one... unless one has an advanced degree. (NP) I have been to the APNA website and reviewed the FAQ for basic level psych nurses but the description is somewhat vague. Thanks a bunch! Have a great day! [email protected]

afraid of losing my liscense
I am a nursing student and I was SHOCKED when I read your statements. Are inmates not human? As I said I am a student, therefore I have not witnessed what working as a nurse in a correctional facility is like but I am saddened to think that a nurse (who's job is to provide care to the best of her ability) would avoid giving someone medical attention based on the thought that the majority of inmates "fake it". This may even be true, but I think it should ALWAYS be investigated.

What are web courses like?
Hi all, I question the web courses thinking they may not provide as much learning as the in-class courses. I havent taken any so I wouldnt really know which is why I would like to hear from anyone that has taken web courses...like microbiology, chemistry, etc. These courses scare me even when thinking of taking them in-class. :imbar How do they manage to fit labs in the courses?? Any information will certainly be appreciated. Thanks, Littlebitt

Aspergers
I have recently read a novel about Asperger syndrome. A woman who was not diagnosed until she was well into her 30's. The book provides a good insight to the disorder and what life is like for people that have it. The book is titled "Songs of the Gorilla Nation". It can be purchased at Borders book store. I forget the author's name. In the book, the author includes what life was like for her as a child as well as into adulthood. She goes from being homeless to obtaining a Ph.D. She establishes a relationship with these gorillas at the zoo where she interns which helps her deal with the problems she faces due to having Aspergers. I think you would find the book quite helpful in learning more about the syndrome.

Psych Nursing and Psychotherapy Practice
Hello all. My question concerns Psych Nursing and Psychotherapy or forensic social work to be exact. I need to know if I can go from an RN to going back to college to be able to do the work as a forensic social worker or give psychotherapy treatment. One could continue their RN degree, but if you are going to give psychotherapy treatment, wouldnt it be better to go towards Social Work? What certifications might i be able to obtain to be able to do this type of work? I know this is confusing but thanks for all replies!! :roll
