  1. Yes, take every science and math class you can.
  2. Thanks pookalook, look forward to seeing you there!
  3. All the things we have to get done are so expensive....ugh. A $53 drug test is ridiculous, I'm going somewhere else...where did y'all go? fiction030, I already have my CPR and I was told that most of the CPR classes at Boyce are full. I would suggest looking online for other CPR class sites. There should be plenty in the area for you to choose from.
  4. Thanks so much, sewnmom! I'm sure it will all come in handy for us when we start! Keep us updated on how it's going for you! Hope you have a good end to your semester!
  5. I received the info packet yesterday too! It's a bit overwhelming with all of the things we have to do. I'm sure they'll let us know all about our uniform requirements at the meeting. I still have to take A&P II, so the scheduling has me uneasy, I'm not sure if I should register for it now, or just wait...Anyways, keep me posted on what you guys are getting done, and I'll see you November 15th!! Any other nursing students, please feel free to comment too!!! -Haley
  6. Congrats to you both! I have only recieved my acceptance letter so far. Standing around the mailbox everday waiting for more information. I know we will have a mandatory orientation sometime before class starts, and a uniform fitting. As for supplies, I already have a stethescope and BP cuff, though I don't think the cuff is neccessary. Let me know if you hear more!
  7. Hey, anyone out there apply to CCAC Nursing Program for Spring 2012? Haven't seen a thread for it yet, so I started this one. I got my acceptance to Boyce Fast track a few days ago! Hoping to meet some other new admits!
  8. Actually I have heard that about the pax scores. And you're right, it is a shame. I read on the application packet that if you fail the pax, to apply anyways. Apparently they aren't getting enough applicants and are lowering their standards. Not sure how true that is, but if it is I will without a doubt get in from studying and making a good score.
  9. Yeah, I want to finish as soon as possible, I was looking into the 18 month program they have at Boyce campus. I transferred to CT from TX to a private college a few months ago under the impression that I would get it done in 2 years, but they require you to take a certain amount of credits there before you start the program and it will end up taking me 3 years... the same as TX. Even though I have already done 2 years part time at a CC in TX. So now I'm looking into CCAC and if not I'll go back to TX because it is way too expensive here in CT!!
  10. hmm, thanks for all your help!!!
  11. Oh that's more helpful, thank you! Do you know if all the pre-reqs have to be done before you apply?
  12. Yeah, I read through everything in the nursing section, but they're so vague. I am also transferring so I need to speak with an advisor anyways to see what transfers and what else I need to take. Thanks!:)
  13. What are the pre-reqs and admission requirements for this program? I'm looking on their website but it's not very specific on the actual classes. I have Eng Comp 1, A&P 1, college Algebra, intro to psych, and growth & Dev. Any information would be much appreciated.
  14. I think there are definitely bad CNA's everywhere. At the LTC place I work I know we have a few, but if I ever saw a CNA treat a patient like that, they would not be working there anymore. We have CNA's that sit at the end of the hall or in patient rooms while their call lights are going to overtime, and I can't tell you how irritating that is. You're here to do your job, not talk on the phone and watch TV. I understand where you're coming from and I always want to help the patients that are being neglected and usually do, but if you get into the habit of that, the CNA's that are neglecting will expect you to do it all the time. Hope everything works out for you!
  15. Okay I'll have to look into that, Thanks.
