  1. Hi all, I am an adult NP. but I think that there is a great need in psy NP in my population. But I am worried about the the work load daily. I need to see 20 or more pts every day in my clinic. How many pts will a psy. NP need to see daily? Also, is there a lot of paper work and f/u labs reports need to do everyday?
  2. Hi Berkshire, Are you working as full time NP in VNA? If so, how's the pay and how many pts do you require to see daily?
  3. i am a new adult NP. I want to know more about neurology. is there any post master certificate for NP specialized in neurology? thx for any ideas and suggestions.
  4. I am still waiting for my ANP license too. It has been about three weeks after I sent all my info to the board. Good luck.
  5. Hi bayouchick02 I took the AANP ANP exam three weeks ago and I passed in the first time. In the exam, there are a lot of clinical based questions and I only had less than 5 questions non-clinicially. If you did the questions from the Margret Fizg..( I forgot how to spell her name), the questions typed are almost the same as that from her review questions books. If you work very hard for the clinical based questions, I am sure you will be fine. Good luck and waiting for your good news.
  6. Thanks so much, Nitasarn!
  7. Hi all, I am preparing for the ANCC NP exam next week. However, still have couples questions dont know the exactly answers. Would you mind giving me some insights? thanks for any responses. (1) Does a pt with history of MVP require amoxicillin 2gm before dental surgery? (2) What is the better method for assessing an Alzheimer's pt: obtain history from relatives and pt first, or take the mini-mental exam first? (3) why does a 20 years old pt who had tetorifice booster 6 years ago still requires to take the booster of Td vaccine again when she has a cut on her hand when she was working in a garden? (4) does A1C count as one of the acceptable methods in DM diagnosis now? (5) why does G6PD deficency pt can not take Pneumovax? (6) why does a pt with MCV 102 fL require to meaure serum ferritin and peripheral smear, rather than meaure serum folate and B12 level?
  8. Congrat to all of you passing the board exam. I am in my last semester and will graduate in May 2012. Anyone can give me some suggestions, like which review books are good for exam? Just like Robbnp22 said, it would be good for us if someone can describe the actual questions from the board exam, because I feel nervous after reading all the post. All of you guys stated that the questions of the exam were different from what we studies. Any tips for us to pass the exam too? Thanks for any advice.
  9. Hi Nursie_pants, Thanks so much for your information. But where is your hospital? I am living in Philadelphia and I am willing to move anywhere if I can find an oncology job. Take care, cymphilly
  10. Hi LBradshaw19, Thanks so much for letting me know the web site. here is my email address: [email protected] Thanks so much again.
  11. Thanks, Aeterna. It is very difficult for me, a new graduate nursing student, to find a job . It makes me no chance to have any experience in IV insertion. And that's y I was asking any courses that I can take to increase my chance to enter the oncology field. Anyway, thanks so much for your advices.
  12. Thanks so much, Aeterna and Dardeedee. There are a lot of information in the oncology nursing society website. However, I don't know where I can find information, such as training and classes for the IV and central line. I didn't have chance to change the central line when I was in school clinical practicism. Any information for me? Thanks.
  13. Thanks, HerbalGypsy. I look for information about the RN residency program on the hospital webstie, however, there is no way to apply for this program. Besides, other than applying the residency program, any others ways I can do or prepare for the RN job in this speciality?
  14. Hi all, I graduated last year but still can't find a job in hospital. I really want to be an oncology nurse, but nobody willing to hire a new graduate without any experiences. Any suggestions for me so that i can increase my choice to go into this area? thanks for any help.:redbeathe
  15. Hi everyone, I graduated from a US nursing University and got my US RN license a year ago. However, I couldn't find any nursing job that can help me to change my status. So I need to continue my master degree or post-BSN certification program. Anyone can give me some advices? Which option is better for me or has higher chance for me to find a sponsor employer to change my F1 to H1B: 1. apply the OR nurse trainning program which is run for 12-16 weeks in some hospitals. Then apply OPT; or 2. apply the WOCN program which is run for one semester. It is a master degree. Then apply OPT; or 3. apply the nurse practitioner master program which is run for 18 months. Then apply OPT. Thanks for any suggestions and advices.
  16. let me clarify my question: If i am working as a dialysis nurse in a clinic, is this position qualified for my employer to help me to apply H1B visa? (I know it is the business of my employer to apply the visa for me, I just want to know that the positon is equal to the "speciality" citeria as the gov. stated so or not). Thanks.
  17. Hi all, Is anybody successfully applied for H1B visa as dialysis nurse only? If yes, can you share how you apply for it? what documents do you need to apply for the visa? Thanks for your sharing and suggestions.:redpinkhe
  18. Thanks so much for all of your reply, suggestion and sharing.

God is so good! He answered my prayer and hoping that the visa stamping interview will run so smoothly. No hard questions : Working visa for nurses doesn't need to have a Visa Screen Cert only those who are applying for I-140 or immigrant visa petition. However, you still need it when you like to change your status from H1B to green card. I find that VSC is not required for H1b hard as VSC is required for both immigrant or work visa and is stated accordingly on CGFNS website The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), under section 343 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, requires the following health care professionals who are educated outside the United States and who are seeking temporary or permanent occupational visas or Trade NAFTA (TN) status: CGFNS International If you haven't got it you may find that it is required for your interview and your visa may be delayed if not submitted The CGFNS is only applicable for those nurses who have foreign trainning. If I completed my nursing school in usa and got my RN license in usa too, then I don't need to take the CGFNS when I try to apply H1B visa and green card. Is it correct?
  20. Hi all, I am an international student and graduated from an USA nursing school. I got my BSN, passed the NCLEX exam and got my inital RN license here. I read a lot of information about applying working permits or green card, however, it is so confusing. Is there anyone clarify my questions listed below? Thanks so much. (1) Is it neccessary for me to take the another exam and visa screening even I got my NCLEX in USA? (2) I am studying my master degree in an USA university. Can I apply for green card or LPR right now? OR I have to wait to do so until I graduate from the master degree and get my OPT? (IF so, it maybe too difficult for me to wait for the approval of the green care or LPR, right?) (3) Because i am still studying in a school and in F-1 status, if some clinic wants to hire me now, can I take up the job? Do I need to apply for CPT? Can the employer in the clinic help me to apply for green card or LPR in this peroid? Thanks so much for any clarification and help.
  21. Thanks so much, Sliverdragon102:redpinkhe
  22. Thanks, however, I already had the OPT for BSN. so is there OPT for post BSN certificate program? is that higher level than BSN but lower level than MSN? Thanks.Silverdragan102.

does anybody know the difference in applying OPT of post BSN degree certificate and MSN degree? Can I apply OPT after graduating the post BSN degree certificate? Can I apply OPT after the MSN degree in NP if I applied the post BSN degree certificate OPT before? Thanks for any ideas and responses.
  24. Hi all, I graduated from a nursing school in May 2009. However, I couldn't find any hospital job up to now. So I decide to continue my master degree as a NP. I have questions: (1) is it very difficult for me to find a NP job after graduation if I don't have any clinical experience? (I only have 1 year visiting home nurse experience) (2) anyone know how can i find shawdowing of an experienced NP in a hospital when I am studying the NP program? welcome to any suggestions or resources links. Thanks.
