  1. Thanks daydreams...I called & talked to Gloria & I received my packet yesterday! I'm so excited to start
  2. I applied back in October 2009 & took my test in October, but I still have not received my packet. I've been waiting patiently but want to know now since I have waited so long. I'm tempted to call the school to see where it is. I applied for the LPN Day program & received a 126 on my entrance test so I'm hoping it was good enough to start in April.
  3. What position are you looking for? Baptist East is hiring RNs and nurse assistants all the time. They have several posted on their website.
  4. I currently work at Baptist Hospital East and love it there. I also know people that work at Nortons, Jewish & University and they all love their jobs. Just take whatever hospital offers you the best benefits for your needs :)
  5. maybe try a hospital
  6. fulltime days LPN is 12 months. fulltime RN is an additional 15-18 months. so a total of about 2 1/2 years. no-prereqs means that you don't have to take specific classes before entering the nursing school like you do at JCC , Univ of Louisville or Bellarmine. i am starting there at the end of april & can not wait.
  7. I highly recommend buying the study guide. This helped me out a lot because I was nervous about taking the entrance exam. It will help to freshen up on algebra, science & reading. Learn the prefix, suffix & root words. There were a lot of words on the exam I had never heard of. Also, time yourself on the reading part. I took my time on that section & ended up having to guess on the last 10 or so questions. Overall I ended up in the 86th percentile. The school I applied at for LPN wanted an entrance score of at least 90 & I received a 126. Hope this helps.
  8. my sister went there for her LPN & is now taking her RN classes online at spencerian. she likes it but its tough. i am going to go to jcc or galen but the only thing you have to remember is that if you plan to go further i.e. NP then you want to make sure that your credits will transfer. at jcc they definitely will buy i'm not sure about spencerian. i know galen won't. also i believe that starting in 2015 to be a NP you will have to have your doctorate. good luck.
  9. I just got a job at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville as a nurse assistant. They have tuition reimbursement. Check out their website & look for job opportunities for a nurse assistant. Good luck.
  10. My transcripts should be on their way to Galen. I'm applying for the day program just b/c I don't want to be in school for 4 years to get my LPN then RN but if they don't acccept for April or the following quarter I may end up in the evening program. Gloria told me to get everything in as soon as possible b/c the day classes fill up so quickly.
  11. The minimum required extrance exam score for the PAX-PN was 92 and I received a 126. I was wondering how my test score compared to others to get into Galen. I am applying for the April 2010 quarter & I'm trying to get everything done early so I am prepared as soon as tax season is over in the spring (my current job). Getting really nervous & I think I will have to wait several months to find out if I am accepted or not.
  12. Has anyone taken the Pax-PN entrance test & what was their score. Is the scoring any different than the CPAt? I took my entrance exam a couple weeks ago but got a lower score than what everyone on here is getting for the CPAt test!!! Now I am very nervous b/c it was a tough test with lots of chemistry. I am applying for the April 2010 quarter because of work. I'm hoping I get accepted but now with other test scores....I'm not very optimistic
  13. Is it the Louisville campus that you applied to? If so, try getting on at a hospital - you will get experience & some income plus a guaranteed job. I start CNA classes in 2 weeks at a local hospital & I have applied to start LPN day classes at Galen in April 2010. It will be a struggle for us but its only temporary & the reward will be great! Good luck & congrats on being accepted.
  14. Has anyone taken the National League of Nursing pre-entrance exam? I was wondering how difficult it was. I bought the study guide so I am hoping I do well on it. I am going to start nursing school in the spring as long as I pass the exam - just a little nervous since I graduated HS in 1998 then I went to college for interior design which is totally worthless. Any advice would be great! Thanks.
