Most admissions you personally had during shift or most your floor had.
North Dakota doesn't prevent LPN's from doing admissions. The nursing Practice only prohibits LPN's from starting blood, giving chemo, and IV sedatives. Our Nursing laws also required LPN's to have as Associate Degree. LPN's before the new requirement was past in 1987 were grandfathered in. I myself have an ASPN, LPN.

our unit is a 37 bed unit and we had in one 8 hour period 15 discharges and 16 admits. i had 2 discharges myself and 3 admits. we had 6 nurses working that day. the above comment said she didn't know how many RN's were working. did you mean that only RN"s can do admits. on our unit both RN's and LPN's can do admits. the LPN's just get a cosign from a RN on the admit form.

whats the weather like????
HI RINA, my real name is just one letter different than yours. I would love to visit indonesia. warm weather is what i like more than this cold. at noon today it was 25 below. that was our high for today. we kindda joke around up here in north dakota, i say the is just to seasons--- winter and the summer is the one weekend in july that i have to work. but seriously our summers can get pretty hot too. when we put a new furnace in two years ago, we also put in central air. most people don't think we need it up here , but believe me we do get up to 90-100 during June, JUly and August. keep cool

on my medical floor we are dealing with an issue like this. But ,of course, not the idea of sueing!!!!!! we have been having a problem with pt. assignment. at first we made assignments at the beginning of our shift about who gets 1st, 2nd, 3rd.... admit and or transfer. But we have been finding that it has been turning out that one nurse will have 5 pt. and no discharges and another nurse has only 2 pts. left after her discharges, but the nurse with 5 pt. gets the next admit. How we have been handling that problem is that the charge nurse quickly does a quick pt. count per nurse and then assigns the admit . So far it has been working alot better. If you have a very difficult pt, if you just let the charge nurse know she can figure that in. Many times our nurses check to see if any of the other nurses need help, so that no one is behind or overworked, while others are doing nothing. It takes a team effort.

PA LPN's now permitted to accept verbal orders.
In my state, ND, LPN's have always been able to take a verbal order! It would be awfully hard to work a Medical unit if we couldn't!
