Why can nurses be so catty towards each other? Maybe there should be more psychiatric professionals. So disappointing.

I know it is more expensive, but I have always used a nanny. gonannies.com is a place that I have found 2 good nannies. I have always paid $10 per hour. It saves you having to get the kids up and out in the morning and they get to be home with each other and a nanny all day. I have always felt it was money well spent, consider it. :-) Good luck! :)

Hi Sara. I am feeling better after the first two exams. I am going to be glad to have Friday's exam over as well. Then I will know what to expect on that one too. So, so far so good. :-)

Yes, the Patho test was HARD. I looked at the first few questions and about panicked! lol I am going to begin reading Patho as soon as the Pharm exam is over. Hopefully the pharm exam is better.

Claudia, We aren't in clinicals yet. We are in the nursing lab on Saturdays for 4.5 hours.So, if you take patho before nursing school, you will have Pharmocology online and a 4.5 hour lab on Sat only for the first semester. We start hospital work 5 weeks into the summer semester. It will be at Big Baylor. I am not sure where the other clinicals will be after this summer. HTH, Anny

Yes, take patho before nursing school. I wish I did. The weekend program is accepting students every year and will accept 90 in the next class. There are 45 students in the Spring 2010 class. Good luck!

The fast track and the weekend programs are for people who already have a bachelor's degree in another field. Brookhaven has a 16 month program, but it is a ADN, not a BSN. That may matter to you. The fast track seems like it would be difficult. I think the deadline to apply is Feb 1st and yes, it is may or june of this year til Aug of next year.

Hi Huggiebear, TWU has a bunch of different programs. I am pretty sure they are all 2 years with the exception of the fast track post bac one. That one is 15 months, May-August of the next year. I am in the weekend program and we start now and will graduate in Dec 2011. HTH, Anny

I thought the Hesi was pretty easy. I took Chem and A&P I and II many(many) years ago. I only studied the study guide and I did fine! My score was high enough to get me into TWU. I found the tests to be really basic. Kind of a macro perspective. Study the guide and look up anything you are unsure of. Try to relax and you will do better. Good luck! :redbeathe ~Anny

I would say not to give up at all! BUT, stop dropping classes! lol You can only drop 6 for your entire undergrad degree. You are at 3 now. Take your classes with a tutor from the beginning. These classes can be difficult, but you have to do really well. Nursing school entry in extremely competitive. If nursing is a dream, do whatever you have to to get there or you will regret it. I just read an email that Dr.* sent to us. We have a new pharm prof and he doesn't use a book. He uses an online resource. She mentions in the email that the book will be an excellent resource over the next 2 years, but the prof doesn't use it. I may return my book. I am not sure yet. It looks like the prof is an RN who went back to school and earned a Pharm.D. ~Anny

I went to scrubs etc today (on Medical Ave and stemmons) Very close to Campus. I got an Urbane scrub shirt and pants for $42.

I would call Megan regarding the scheduling. As far as the books, I am buying mine from Amazon.

Workbook for pharm for nurses (2nd edition) both by Adams and Holland also we will need to buy a $286 software package. It is at Majors. I can't find the patho book info. I'll have to get back with you on that. She wants us to have the first 8 chapters read BEFORE classes begin. :-)

Yes. I will post books later. Stethescope is the best you can afford. You should spend about $100. The uniforms are the white top and burgandy/maroon pants. No lab coat. We can wear a long sleeve white shirt under the scrub top. All white shoes, white socks. We can wear street clothes the first day of class (Jan 23rd). She will email us what time our class is. She said it will be 8-noon or 1-5 on saturdays only. The pharm and patho classes are online-but we can attend the one with Dr. macarthy (the class from the bio dept) if we want to, anytime. It is the one that is Monday mornings. I sat through the traditional orientation and Dr. Macarthy spoke. She mentioned that being late is unacceptable. So, if you decide to sit in on her lecture, be on time. ~Anny

Hi Saralou, I met with Dr. Sherif and she explained the program to me. I missed the orientation as well. We need to be CPR certified as a healthcare provider. The student nursing association is having a training the week before class. It is $40 and covers everything we need. ~Anny

I got an 86 on my HESI. My GPA is 3.8

That schedule sounds reasonable to me. Just remember to study A&P every. single. day. It will pay off!

I think TWU is $158 a credit.

I took Micro at TCC with Dr. M who is the dept head. I got an A. He gives lots of extra credit.
