Why would you say OB rotation for being difficult? I have my OB rotation coming up soon so I'd love to hear.

Sand Dollar is right. This is an EASY class to take online. I took it online and it was one of the easier A's I had earned. I would do that instead of delaying another semester. Good luck!

I also have two children and this is how I look at it. You are doing something to help your family and become a better person. This intense schooling period is only temporary and in a few years it will be all worth it. I sat my kids down and talked to them and said that I will be studying a lot, as in every day for many hours. I told them it is only for 2 years and then mommy will be a nurse. They understand and know its important. I do try to make one day a week for fun time to do something special for them. Many times this is just a day at the pool or taking them to the park while I listen to lectures on my headphones. I also make plenty of cuddle time on the couch while I study and they are near me. Even these small things they really appreciate and feel like I am around. You can make sure to include times like this and kids really seem to appreciate the small stuff. Tell them up front that you will most likely have books around you or in your hands constantly but you need to or you can't finish school. Mine are already proudly telling people "my mommy is going to be a nurse." Maybe also telling your 5 year old why it is important you do this and how you will be helping many people in the hospital etc. I know personally if I don't get this time with them I start to feel the guilt creep in so I try to get as many cuddle times as I can. At night if I am studying late, I just move things to my bed to read and let mine stay up late to watch TV by me or read a book. I think being able to do both things at the same ease the guilt and make them feel important. Maybe mark dates on the calendar for special times they can look forward to that you spend one on one time with your kid and let them pick the place.

Limeade, the large information packet I received in April included this information. The information session on campus is Wednesday, June 2 from 7:45 - 5:00. Check in begins at 8:00 and lunch will be provided. It will be held in Education 2 North Building in Room 1303. Visitor parking is $5 and available in the Georgetown, Julesburg and Ignacio lots. Georgetown is the preferred with the other two as backup. You should receive an email the last week of May with the exact time of your ID Badge appointment. Make sure to bring your photo identification. We also have online orientation beginning May 25 or 27 (read conflicting information for the two dates but I'm sure its one of them). I believe this will be on Blackboard after the 25th. If you are missing any other information feel free to let me know! Look forward to meeting you all on the 2nd!

Think about your life. Think about any situation that made you really look inside yourself and challenged your values. For example, I had to take care of my grandparents and actually was with them as they passed and really had to step in and help the family. Things I had valued were totally different than then. After spending a year watching them die and talking to them I really learned what matters and it changed me for the better. One thing I learned is to never judge someone from a first impression before really getting to know who they are. There are many experiences you may have come across or will in your future. Diversity can mean many things to many people. I thought of it as diverse populations such as age, living conditions and just people that have way different values than I do. My situation had me focusing on these types of diversity because I worked with many elderly people and spent a great deal of time with my grandparents. Your situation will likely be different. It is something I had to think about for a long time before I realized what I should focus on in my essay. You will want to do the same and figure out what diversity means to you and how you have experienced it. The essays will be specific in what they ask you - I read those essay questions over 100 times before I really got it in my mind what I was going to talk about.

You really need to put yourself in a situation to have diverse experiences. The essay is a really big deal with them and they want to know how you stand out and what life experiences with diverse populations you bring to the table. They want to know you are able to be a critical thinker and that you understand what it means. The grades are also very important as Workinprogress mentioned. You will want to be higher rather than close to the minimum. I have read of people on these forums having a 4.0, volunteer experience and years of experience in the health care field and NOT get in the school. This makes me feel as though the essay is going to be the most important thing for you to work on. This means finding environments where you can have these experiences. Good luck!

I just spoke to someone in the Academics Office and she confirmed that our classes do in fact end on July 30. She explained that they have a new online system and that the registration dates listed online are reflecting the downtown campus. She confirmed with others in her office and assured me that our classes end July 30. This will give us a month break before the next ones! Don't shoot the messenger if somehow I was given wrong information but she sounded extremely confident and sure!

I noticed that also Limeade. What did you find out about the correct dates? I was assuming August 20 would be the last date and the registration was more accurate but I'd like to confirm.

Oh and grats Limeade!! I bet you have never been happier to be so busy :)

Ditto to what HghlndsRnch said. I had to go to the COF site and after registering waited 72 hours before going back to verify. Then after I registered for classes there was a button for Summer COF that I clicked. As far as books, I also ordered mine off of Amazon and Ebay. Pretty inexpensive this term but I am sure that will change in August! HghlndsRnch, I also live in HR. I haven't decided to utilize the RTD or to drive. Register for classes asap. I am in the Wed afternoon lab. I knew I should have registered at 7am instead of 8:30 but figured I could wait till I got home from work. I was wrong! I missed out on the Thurs PM lab June 2 will be here before we know it!

I received my package also. I went ahead to Amazon and ordered books so I can start reading once they arrive. This is going to be fast paced! I joined the FB page also, thanks for setting that up! Can't wait for June!

Hmm I didn't get the email Friday. I did call and they told me my file was complete and that we would receive further information by the end of April or early May in the mailbox. Let me know if you get anything in the mail!

My acceptance letter in late November came in an 8 1/2 x 11 envelope with information on accepting/declining and immunizations. The above poster is right though as it may include more information as the time gets closer! I wish you all the best of luck!!!

I would call them. I didn't have such a sense of urgency since it was way before the summer. You, however will want to ensure you have your funding if you do get accepted for June so I would call them and ask them.

I actually got this letter before I was accepted. When I did my FAFSA last year it asked for schools and I put UCD down for the summer, just in case I was accepted for Summer 2010. I think when they get the FAFSA notification they need to have a file on you so they contact you for that information. I could be wrong though. Good luck!

I check this board several times daily to see if any of you have heard anything! I would love to join a FB page and meet up before/during class schedules. I know that having support from each other will help us all. I am hoping you all hear something in March and that the April date is just for extras or something, time will tell. I was under the impression that those that don't get in for June or Jan right away would be resubmitted with new applicants for Jan 2011. I know that stinks and hopefully I am wrong but I thought that was how it will work. I know I should be excited to be accepted to start in June (priority review) and I AM but it is lonely until some of you join me! Keep us posted!

My GPA was around 3.75. I have done some work in an Alzheimer home. I am also 35 years old. I truly feel they are looking for academically strong people but also people that have life experiences that will make them a good nurse or critical thinker. My essay illustrated my experience slightly but really went into detail about how life experiences made me the person I am today. I got my acceptance letter to UC Denver at the end of November 2009 in the priority review and was completely shocked!! 4.0 in Nursing School, WOW! I too was thinking it wasn't possible till I saw your post. I start NS in June and I am nervous and excited. I was wondering if you had any study tips/routines to share? I'd love to hear any ideas of how you prepped for tests, etc.

I am working on my acceptance information now and I am definitely attending in June! I did my undergraduate at SPC in Florida.

Sure I'll give any information that may allow you to compare. I currently work with Alzheimer patients and have for the last year. In my essay I went in to great detail about the care I provided for my grandparents and how it changed me. My GPA is 3.8 and my pre req grades were mostly A's with a few B's. I was really shocked and I am still am that I was accepted in the priority review. I am very excited for next year! Let me know if any of you hear anything. I look forward to making many new friends on the journey!
