We get nothing toward the pinning ceremony from my CC. It's all on our own. The college maintains the standard graduation ceremony for those interested.

I wouldn't do it. I only have my personal experience to go on, but I entered nursing school with a 3.85 GPA and will exit with something like a 3.25 in August - still good enough to get into a BSN program. Your entering GPA is important if you want to keep going. I wish I just went the BSN route in retrospect.

Ten months sounds good to me. My program is 18 months in addition to the prereq's. I can relate to the patient care slave feeling!

Wow, March! Congratulations! I'll be graduating in August, God willing, and am already counting the days. My pet peeve is poorly worded exam questions. Maybe that will be another thread. :)

Hmm...I'm an an ASN program and A&P I and II were prereq's (amongst others)before applying to nursing school. I can tell you ,as a male, that OB and peds were no fun in clinicals because of an underlying current among nurses. It was tough to admit, but it's real. Advanced med surg is where I am now and I love it. I doubt myself almost daily, but I hear that's common. The challenge is the enjoyable part believe it or not.

I know the feeling about coming back from winter break feeling a bit rusty. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about patients refusing student nurse care except not taking it personally. Any care, med administration, etc., can be refused as we all know. People are stressed and afraid frequently in a hospital setting and may act in ways that are unusual for them or reflect their true self. In any case, it's a variable that can't be predicted. I wouldn't dwell on it.

I'll be 44 when I graduate in August 2010. I started taking prereq's at the age of 39 very part time because I wasn't sure how I would respond to college. I guess you could say things worked out. :)

Thanks Diane. I have about 8 months to go and am feeling really stupid lately. I was brilliant when I started with a 3.92 GPA, but that is old news. I've been a B/C student and trying my heart out. It's been difficult I have to admit. Thanks for having pity on us! My pharm final will include about 500 drugs.
