Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC
Hi x3Bliss, Are you currently working at HSS? I am only asking because I had an interview with a nurse recruiter for the PACU new grad program, and was supposed to be scheduled for a panel interview until she told me the panel interview and program has been postponed for a reason that I am unaware of. I just wanted to ask you how the panel interview went for you. Hope to hear from you soon! Have a great day. - Melody

Hi rockz, I had an interview with the nurse recruiter (Ann White) at HSS in March 2010 for the PACU new grad residency program, and unfortunately, she has informed me that the panel interviews have been delayed. Can you tell me how your panel interview went? Are you currently working at HSS? I appreciate anything you are able to share with me. Have a great day! - Melody

Hi IT-RN, I had an interview with the nurse recruiter (Ann White) at HSS in March 2010 for the PACU new grad residency program, and unfortunately, she has informed me that the panel interviews have been delayed. The program was supposed to start this month (May 2010), but it seems like there is an issue with the panel interview/program. Can you tell me how your panel interview went? Are you currently working at HSS? I appreciate anything you are able to share with me. Thank you, and have a great day! - Melody

Any advice for a nurse new to PACU???
Hi simplysusan, I just had a selection interview yesterday for a PACU position, and I feel that I did well to impress the nurse recruiter. She said that I can expect to hear from someone in two weeks to schedule a panel interview. I was just wondering if you would be able to give me insight as to what questions were asked during your three interviews. For the selection interview, I was asked three questions: (1) Why did you choose nursing; (2) Tell me a time when you had a challenging situation with a patient or co-worker; and (3) ...something about a time when I displayed my leadership abilities. I appreciate anything you can share with me. :) Have a great weekend. - Melody

Does it really matter what school you get your Master's degree from?
Hello, I am considering graduate school to get my Master's degree. I recently moved from California, and am researching for graduate programs in New York. I am considering FNP or WHNP and found the programs at Columbia University, SUNY Downstate and Stony Brook University. Can anyone who graduated from Columbia/SUNY/Stony Brook give me pros/cons about the school he/she graduate from? It would really help me with my decision as to what school to apply to. Thank you so much. Have a great day. Melody

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
The "pearsonvue trick" worked for me. I tried to re-register about 2 hours or so after I took my test on Monday August 10. I got the pop-up stating: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." It made me feel less anxious and gave me a glimmer of hope, but it wasn't official so I was still nervous and couldn't wait to get the official result. My friend told me to also check the BRN website at 3 am after 3 business days. I just got on this morning (Thursday August 13 at 3:28 am) and my name was listed, above my mom's name! Wooohooo!!! I got 85 questions. After question 75, I clicked next hoping the computer would shut down, but it proceeded to question 76 and I thought to myself, "Oh my God it didn't shut down!" I tried to remain calm and keep my focus as the computer kept advancing to the next question, but let me tell you, all I kept thinking was, "When will this thing shut down?!" as I simultaneously looked at the question counter. But I made it through, and I know all of you will too. Good luck to all, and I wish you all the best.
