I was wondering if u did end up taking the AANP ? And which resource was most helpful? I have a few days to cram last min info and don't feel very confident - pls help

Hi Everyone: I really really need some advice regarding the AANP FNP exam. I graduated last May from my FNP program. I had planned to take the exam right away but family issues occurred (my MIL was diagnosed w terminal cancer). With my already hectic life , I wasn't able to dedicate as much time or study the way I normally do. I decided to take the AANP even though my program recommended the AANC, bc i thought i could hardly get through clinical material, much less theory etc.. but now im in total panic bc everyone on this site seems to think the AANP was harder? My problem is there are too many distractions, and I can't focus. I have been studying on and off which is worse because I notice I tend to forget the stuff I had studied before. Furthermore, since I've been out of school for 11 months I have forgotten some basic material ex labs and dx tests, a lot of the meds etc. I have listened to the Fitzgerald CDs once but very spaced out during the past few months. I just got the Leik book and some exams on exam edge. I also bought the Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam: Review Questions and Strategies book (which I keep scoring 50-62 on). I'm very worried bc I keep scoring so low on the questions in that book, in addition I score bw 440 - 590 on the AANP exams from exam edge (500 is passing). I've passed 3/10. I have to take this exam next Wednesday (in 5 days). Do I have a chance? With such limited time -is it best to focus on : 1. review Fitzgerald? 2. Do AANP questions from exam edge and read rationales Or 3. Make sure I read the Leik book? I will not have time for all if it. And I have NO idea what the actual exam is more similar to? Fitzgerald material ? Exam edge ? Or the Leik book? This is what I really NEED to know. Thanks everybody, it means a lot that you shared your situations....you are all right about the confidence, I just don't know how to obtain it, I have lost it! And I don't know how to get it back before the test! I felt like i knew my stuff, but maybe it's been too long since graduation (3 months) or maybe it's just the fact that there is a bunch of other stuff going on, if you have any suggestions on gaining self confidence before the test let me know :imbar

:crying2:Hi everybody, I test on Friday, due to numerous personal and medical circumstances and having a child with no help, I was able to only do 1500 questions sporatically in the past 3 weeks...I did study in June - but now I keep scoring 50-60% :crying2:on the NCSBN site and Kaplan too, my confidence has been shattered and I don't know why I'm doing so badly, I was a straight A student in school, did an accelerated program which was NClex based. if I reschedule the test i fall behind from my graduate program, for a year, which has numerous other consequences... should I go for it, i don't feel very confident after these results.. did anyone get the same scores with ncsbn or kaplan and pass... is the real one easier or harder? please help, i keep loosing more and more of my confidence with these questions. also with 2 days left is it better to try to reach 2000 question (500 more) or read content, labs, meds? Danah omg great advice.. thanks soooo much. I will follow your advice. I don't feel so overwhelmed now..I'm sooo glad i found this forum i keep getting calmer and more organized as posts come through.

Wow Roxani that was great advice.. and i never thought about things that way.. i will def. take that with me to the test.. esp the mindset of 265 questions, bc i am one to freak out if i get that many. I don't know what ATI is or where i would find it though. Thank you sooooooooooooo much for taking the time to share your advice. It just made such a difference for me.

cc RN thanks for your reply..ok so you think doing questions is better then just going through content like I'm doing right? what questions sources did you use.. I signed up for Ncsbn but ran out of questions i dont think they have more than a 1000... now i have mobey or prentice hall, or nclex 3500.. after just taking it which do you think is more helpful..?

danah - thanks for your reply it really helped.. you just took it last sat.. well I never made it to 3000 questions or that much prep bc i just moved and have had a very sick child.. with no childcare.. so i have been truly struggling to get through material and questions.. that's why like your friend i kind of have the defeated attitude.. and am terrified i wont be able to continue my schooling if i fail. but with having very little time, i thought I should focus on medsurg, infection, delegation and priority not so much ob or peds, or calculations or meds.. but then others are telling me differently.. can you tell me how it was and what is the best way to prepare if I only have 5 days about4 hours a day... what source and what topics and questions or content? thanks soooo much i would really appreciate it especially since you just took it.

thanks so much, i know , i just dont know which is better to targe the nclex test questions.. i keep hearing kaplan, but i didnt buy it and don't know if I should 6 days before the exam.

ty sooo much for your responses.. i only have the Kaplan strategy book with 180 x 2 question sets.. and some strategies, I think all of you may be refering to another kaplan book, i have 6 days left, with very minimal time to study bc of a sick toddler and no childcare/ support should I pay 300 bucks for the kaplan question bank now or just do nclex 3500 questions Prentice ones read content or Mosby I keep reading saunders is easy... what do you think please let me know the clock is ticking.

thank you luvmyguys .. for your response- wow 3000 questions that was my goal but with medical problems, moving and a sick toddler it didn't work out, i've done 800 and I take it next week as well...can you email me? I cant seem to send email messages on this forum I just jointed.

Hi Nursetobe 4 - I am really confused and overwhelmed with 7 books to study from and everyone telling me diff things - I have a baby that's very sick and I'm pretty much on my own and really overwhelmed and afraid bc I can't study like I should, I stay up after he sleeps at night - but i can't dedicate too much time bc of him being ill, and I can't reschedule the test anymore. I take the test 2 days after you can you tell me what you found to be the most useful resource / material to focus on. thanks so much,

what Kaplan are you guys recommending the online course, Question banks or the strategy book , please let me know asap. thanks.
