BSN/ASN confusion!!
Diploma schools have not been phased out as I am in one now. It combines a Diploma in nursing with an Associates degree in science if you choose. I already have a BA, so I'm just in the Diploma program. They have excellent standards and students land jobs pretty quickly from what I hear because it through a hospital. It's just tough out there in general right now. I have friends that have BSN's and Associates and Diplomas and are all having difficulty finding a job or a new position. They have about a year experience and it's still not enough.

Huron Road School of Nursing...
It's not really an interview. It's more of a informational session. If your grades are fine, you have nothing to worry about. All they ask is to write a statement of why you want to be a nurse. They don't interview you one on one. They just give you your transcripts and a form stating whether you're missing any classes. They give you a chance to ask questions. Again, it's really nothing. The person who will be leading the session is very nice.

Huron Road School of Nursing...
The teas test is taken after you are in the program already. They are test-running the exam to see if they'll use it in the future. As of now you just go in and take it for fun. I never even saw my results from it. It's a big waste of 4 hours....

Huron Road School of Nursing...
I'm there now and it is challenging, but very doable if you stay on top of your assignments. I would not say the communication is worse than any other university I've attended. I'm actually really enjoying it there. I think they've pulled it together. My instructor was saying they were redoing their curriculum around the time you were there. Maybe that's why things were disorganized.

What to do while I wait 2 years to get into the Nursing program?
In Cleveland, I applied 3 months before the program started and they still had MANY seats open. It's a Diploma program. I already have a degree in something else, so I'm pretty much just taking nursing classes. Another school I looked into here also had a 2 year wait!! I would DEFINITELY call around because every school is different.

Nursing Student who needs some help!!!!
I would label your header to something related to OB's so it attracts their attention. ...Just thinking it'll get you more answers/traffic.

What nursing jobs are available to one with no experience?
I have no experience either and I'm starting nursing school next week. Part of me hopes that nursing school will be enough of a experience because I have a family as well and don't think I can squeeze work into the picture. I'm sorry you hate your current job. ...At least you have one which is more than a lot of people can say these days. :-)

I Finally Did it...I Wrote to Oprah!
If it does get on Oprah, can someone post it on youtube bc I don't watch television unnecessarily...or own a TV for that matter. :-)

Are there nursing jobs or not?
What was it like when it was a good time for nursing grads? Was everyone getting their dream jobs left and right? Was everyone lined up with a job before they graduated? Just wondering what a decent economy means for nurses because I wont be graduating for another 2 years either and I need something to hope for. :-)

Job market prefers BSN , turns away ADN
I'm doing a Diploma program that has an agreement with a Community College here...the nursing classes are taken at the nursing school and the side classes at the other college.

Tri-C accelerated adn
Random question: I'm taking microbiology with Jared LeMaster this fall....I'm taking it concurrently with nursing classes at Huron NS. Has anyone had him? What do you think of him...? I'm super nervous to take this class alongside everything else (nursing school/family)...I haven't been in school full time since before my 1.5 yo son was born. Thanks

Looking down upon LTC nurses?
So is it easier to find a job at a LTC facility? Would that be a good way to start and then enter the hospital environment with experience? Are LTC nurses looked down by hospitals as well?

Job market prefers BSN , turns away ADN
Okay, that makes me feel slightly better....I'll get whatever job I can get and then slowly work towards a BSN because I do eventually want a MSN. It's just impractical for me to spend another 3 years getting a BSN at the moment. I've already wasted 4 years getting a pointless degree for something else. I need a paycheck.

Looking down upon LTC nurses?
That's what I'm worried about....I'm starting a Diploma program in a few weeks (I already have a degree in something else) and this site is making me worried that I'm making a big big mistake by not going straight into a BSN program. Apparently, hospitals are mostly hiring new grads with a BSN....

You guys are making me worried because I'm just starting a Diploma/ADN program in a few weeks (I already have a degree in something else). I hope I'm not making a mistake....if this is already happening now....what's going to happen in 2 years from now?!
