CNA in Alberta
I currently am taking the LPN program at Bow Valley College. I have heard great things about the health care aide program from other students encountered in lab. Now I'm not sure if you have considered this, but maybe taking the LPN program would be more up your alley. We can do a lot now in Alberta and the pay is great.

No She/he Did Not!!!
No she did not complete a head to toe assessment, hand it in to the instructor and then could not answer why she should be worried about chest pain and respiration rate of 34... (I think I was more pleased than shocked though...she walks around like a big shot during our first clinical and then tells us that we are stupid for being nervous. Karma anyone?)

Should student nurses be required to get the H1N1 vaccine
I was under the impression that the vaccines necessary to attend clinicals were mandatory...so why would this one not be?

Remembering Cranial Nerves
Hi everyone! I have my final lab final coming up next week and i just can't remember these darn cranial nerves! I've got the order of them down, but remembering what they all control/do...well that's another story! Any tips on how you remembered their functions?

Nursing school stress
I know exactly how you are feeling! I am a first semester nursing student (full time) and am not working right now. And to think I feel stressed! I couldn't possibly imagine having to work! One of the things really helping me get through this is getting stuff done early. The earlier you start preparing for a paper, or a midterm the better. I find it best if I study off of index cards, so right after we finish a chapter in A&P I will do the index cards up that week. Then when its time to study, they are all laid out. Another thing to keep me on track (and I'm sorry, this may sound so silly!) is literally writing in my agenda "One week until midterm." and then "Two weeks until midterm." etc, etc. I do this for probably about a month before anything is due, that way I'm always in game mode. (lol!) If nothing else works just remember that you aren't the only one to do this and you aren't the last. It's helping me get through this semester!

New LPN students to start soon !! Come share your experiences :)
I start on August 31st with our orientation on the 27th, and I am so nervous/excited! My school wont give me the book list until the orientation though! Talk about keeping us all anxious! After all the horror stories about how hard it is, I decided to buy my own Barron's A&P Study Guide and start some studying off of that. I figure if I know the basic A&P concept before the course starts, then my semester might be a bit more bearable. For anyone currently in one of their semesters; what are the clinicals like? What should we expect for our first day?

What day are you starting this Fall?
Im not male, but figured I could post here too right? :) I start school on the 31st as well. Except at my school the only 'pre-req's' we had were the immunizations and police check. However, to make my first semester easier (I'm in an accelerated program, 7 courses plus clinical first semester!) I've started studying A&P from a few study guides. Hopefully it makes things a little more bearable :) Im getting nervous/excited too! My last day of work is coming up and then I'm officially a student!

Pre-School Studying?
Hi there everyone! I just registered here today, but have been reading posts for awhile! Everything is just so helpful! Anyways, I am about to start school in about a month and have a crazy schedule for the first semester! I have been reviewing A&P to get myself a bit more comfortable with it before school starts. Anyone else doing this too? Did it help make your first semester a little bit more bearable? Anyone else getting nervous? Less than a month left to go and I'm starting to doubt myself! What if I'm not smart enough? Not good enough? EEK!
