  1. I was asked "Is this legal", surely not but until we as consumers take a stand then it'll continue to happen... The bottom line with Ohio University and any on-line FNP program is to ensure that they have the state agreement go to this link for more information and follow the breadcrumbs Court Deals Second Blow to Federal State Authorization Regulation « WCET Frontiers also look at the SHEOO website. Ohio keeps pushing back clincal start dates in hopes that they will get the state authorization for the remaining students from their first class which I was apart of. Listen if you are not from Ohio, WV or KY don't apply to Ohio University and don't continue to be pacified by their "we're working on it" be pro-active and protect your time, money and learning. Walden University do not accept students from my state of FL and my friend from Texas that was apart of the first 25 inquired a few months back and they told her no. Understand that if you contact your state board of nursing their concerned about "Accredidations not State agreements" two totally different entities... Just like they as for copies of our credentials feel free to ask them!
  2. To anyone who is considering attending OU and live out of state please, please reconsider. I had an awful experience with the FNP program. I live in the state of Florida and had to drop out of the program because the school does not have the necessary "State" agreements in order for our clinicals to count towards graduation. Understand this has nothing to do with the school have national accredation. There was another student from Texas that left the program when I did, time wasted... I did my research, talked with the advisors and was assured they had everything in place for me to attend as an out of state student. They were not and to my understanding are not prepared. This is not an issue with OU only. All online programs are suppose to have agreements with each state for the students that are enrolled in the program so as you continue your search for an online program make sure they have that agreement and if they don't beware. This is not a new issue many schools have just failed to comply not that it will soon be a federal requirement and will affect financial aide they are scrambling and it seems as though the list is long for approval... Search the web and become familiar with this issue. I'm not on my personal computer so attach the multiple links but it won't be hard to find... As far as the communication with the staff, it's just as bad and mainly because no on knows what is really going on... Towards the end there was a lot of avoidance because they didn't have answers. I never ever received a letter, call, or e-mail about the problem we heard it through the grapevine... Bottom line if they can't produce the letter of agreement and from your current experience just look elsewhere... Best of Luck
  3. @kelso915 of course I talked with them before dropping out, I did not make a quick decision to drop out of a program I had invested almost a year and I even talked to the director of the program who was sure but could not give me a definite everytihing was okay. Think about it if they were so sure it would be taken care of why not enroll other students. (???) It was not a problem when I first started the program. Trust I have e-mails from that the issue has not been resolved. Those who choose to stay in the program are trusting that the agreements will be reached by the time clinicals start and others are choosing to go to Ohio.
  4. @mtsteelhorse, What state are your from, that could have something to do with it. I just had to drop out of the program after almost a year (started Jan 12) in b/c some of us not from the state of Ohio, KY and one other states where in limbo b/c we might not be able to perform clinicals in our state. Heartbroken, time and I'm sure wasted money, but I have to move on.
  5. Also about how much are the students currently enrolled pay per credit hour.
  6. Hi to all, Just curious are any of you from a state other than TN? If so are they allowing you to take clinicals within your state. I'm considering RODP but want to make sure other states are accepted.
  7. This has nothing to do with your question but my question for you is, when exactly did you begin the process to fill out your packet was it during school or after you graduated in May? I will graduate in May of "10 and it seems the only answer I can get from a recruiter, who is 2 hours away, is wait until you graduate and we'll go from there. Any info you can provide will be helpful, thanks in advance.
