  1. Did you get to see what kind of care the patients got? Is it more typical of a med-surg floor, or are there big differences? What was your typical workday like?
  2. Please tell me more! I am considering working there and would super appreciate some first-hand insight. Do you know anything about any of the other floors? What about it makes it horrible - is it the nurses, the doctors, the managers? Where are most of the bad experiences rooting from?
  3. Hi VA nurses, I just graduated in May '09 and just passed boards - I'll be starting on an oncology unit in a couple weeks. Speaking of - anybody have any good input regarding oncology and what all it entails? Unfortunately never got into the oncology clinical during school. Thanks! :)
  4. happyloser - Well, in your case, it was the nurse (extern) that was being a Bee-yotch! I know it can be like that, but I have noticed too that techs can be downright mean, especially to new or younger nurses, even though they didn't do anything to deserve it.
  5. Are you serious??
  6. I start @ Shady Grove next month too!!
  7. I haven't gone through it yet, but I honestly won't be surprised if I do. A lot of people harbor either resentment or envy for many different reasons, and I have found that unfortunately they are not always like you and me - they don't try to overcome it or use kindness as a counterforce - they just become obnoxious, rude, hostile, or all of the above. I wish it didn't have to be like that. I'm bracing myself for what awaits me at my new job......*gulp*
  8. I just took my nclex-rn on Saturday, and believe me, I was in the same exact shoes - not many "higher level" questions, a lot of "recall" - so when it shut off at 75, I knew in my heart that I had failed. I even had to wait THREE DAYS to get my results because for some reason my results were not there yesterday (found out today, actually). Anyway, the moral of my story is: everyone thinks they failed, to some degree. For me - I was basically 99% convinced, looking at it from all the angles. But by God's amazing grace, I passed. And what's more encouraging for you is that the overwhelming majority of people who took the exam feel the SAME WAY. The last thing you want to do is give yourself an ulcer waiting on the results. Relax - and in the very slim chance that you did not pass, it is NOT the end of the world!!!! You just get back on the horse and try again next time. HANG IN THERE!
  9. CONGRATS flames9!!!!!! I know you must be overjoyed, you should be. :) LunahRN - that is totally what happened to me - I remembered at the last minute (thanks to another allnurses member who went into details about getting results) that I'd used my DL#. doh!! JVRB4 - your experience mirrors mine to a T. I bet we both took it on a saturday too!!! thanks so much for the kind words of support.
  10. p_one, I seriously think you are gonna be an amazing nurse - I know I don't know you, but your "aura" totally comes through and I can tell! Sounds cheesy, but what can I say! Seriously, I only really got a bit of a grip on myself after reading your posts - you were writing all the things I was feeling and going through, yet you were able to overcome them, acknowledge your feelings, bounce back, and be supportive! Regardless of whether or not you believe in it or want it - I am going to pray every single day for you until I find out that you passed (and I KNOW you will). :)
  11. Thanks p_one. I find out in less than 12 hours....my stomach is still in knots, and I cannot sleep for the life of me. It's like I've become possessed! When are you taking your exam again?
  12. Thanks sincerely for the feedback, everyone - I will anxiously be holding my breath/enduring waves of stomach knots and nausea - until the MOMENT OF TRUTH (oh my Lord please please let me have passed - I can't even begin to think of the road ahead if I didn't).
  13. Hey p_one -- how long after taking your test did you try going to the Pearson payment page? I just tried the trick and it won't let me pay; HOWEVER, the BON just told me over the phone that they do not have my results yet (even though I took my test on Saturday). I'm going crazy.
  14. I took my test on Saturday, July 25 - today is Monday, July 27, almost 10:00 am, and I am officially going CRAZYYYYY. I called the BON and they said they don't have my results yet!!! Everyone else I know that took it over the weekend got their result by Monday morning. Help me please!!!!!!
  15. You guys, I was feeling sick to my stomach until I read these. I took my test on Saturday, and my results are still not available on the automated verification line. EFFFFF. Can I study with you guys??
