  1. I have had halotosis all my life. I have meticulous oral hygiene and have tried every method, product, gum, mints etc. I am being talked about, bullied, ostracized by my co-workers and managers. This affects me deeply and consumes my life. I have spoken w/ dentists and doctors. Any professional advice they give me, I have already done. How do I deal with this?
  2. Thankyou for the replies. This is a big help.
  3. My niece wants to be an LPN. She has a criminal past (not sure to what extent.) Is there a point where this would not affect the admissions process? I don't want her to go through all her prerequisites and not be able to get into nursing school. Thanks for any input.
  4. I am an experienced nurse (15 years) and changed jobs 5 years ago at hospital. I have suffered from workplace lateral violence. One is my clinical leader and her 2 "friends." I have prevailed, though, because I have experience and saw it coming. It bothers me sometimes, but I work for my patients not them. I also work with some awesome nurses and I don't want to leave my co-workers. I am sorry you are going through this as a new nurse. Get your experience and move on, when the opportunity arises.
  5. You are definitely on the right track, because this is called PATIENT RIGHTS. I was a LPN for 7 years in ECF and now am an RN for 7 years on a neuro unit. It is a dignity issue for the patient being exposed. The staff told you not to get the linens because they are lazy, don't care, and are unethical. You will be an awesome nurse.
  6. The person who should have been written up would be the person who transcribed it to the next month NOT YOU! This is not your error. You would not have known this medication was to be given.
  7. I go line dancing (country style) on my days off!
  8. I was an LPN for 7 years...did not get the respect in the medical field...it motivated me to get my RN degree. I strongly advise you to get your RN degree. It will be something you will not ever regret.

No, I have been a nurse for 15 years and have not had this happen before.

I also had a horrible preceptor, when I was a new grad. It taught me a valuable lesson of how important it is to be understanding of their stress and what they are going through. That is why I was glad she didn't get written up. Thankyou for your input.
  11. Thankyou for the information. It was very helpful.
  12. I am a RN in Michigan and also hold a license in Texas. I need to know the requirements for CEU for Texas for license expiring in Nov 09. Thankyou:redpinkhe

I was written up while I was precepting a new grad for a mistake she made. I understand my responsibility as a preceptor, however this is going in my employee file. My orientee did not receive a write up, which I was grateful for. No one was harmed in the incident. Just putting this out there as a caution for other nurses.
