Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune
I was wondering about Naval Hospital too. I am curious as to how much a civilian, GS, new grad starts out making per hour. Anyone with insight?

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
I am a first semester student right now and we were informed about this situation this past week while in Skills Lab. We were told that if anyone happens to fail, including anyone in the last cohort of Spring 2010, they will continue their education, but be a semester behind. They are really going to try to work with everyone and help finish this program regardless of Oklahoma's economy. Of course we are only allowed to fail one class, but if we do get behind, they will work with us and will finish up. No worries :)

Just business casual. Maybe jeans and a polo with closed toe shoes as requested. U R right....how do we tour labs when we aren't on our campus? Hmmm interesting

For those who ordered the ebook pkg...any word yet about the vouchers we received for a couple of our books? Can we send these back to Radcliffe's Book Store in the future to get these books?

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
Hi enb611, Just answering your questions as far as I'm concerned....all of my prereqs were completed when I applied for the program. Financial aide was a breeze. Just fill out the FAFSA online (Oklahoma will send you instructions for all of this once you start your application for the program) and they will send you an award letter based on your results. You have the option to either accept or decline the money awarded to you. Two of my awarded loans were a combo of sub and unsubsidized federal loans....and the last loan was an "alternative loan". The alternative loan is something you have to put into motion yourself and find your own personal lender. Oklahoma has a list of preferred lenders you can pick and choose from. Oh yeah.......just because you receive an award letter does not mean you have been accepted into the program.....I think this confused a lot of people...but it's just the way Oklahoma works. You will receive your acceptance letter later. Regrets???? Gosh I hope not. LOL

I emailed one of the professors this morning about whether we had to have the titers and such done by orientation.......would it affect clinicals, etc. She said as long as we had them completed pior to clinicals then that would be fine. Doesn't have to be completed by orientation, but they do need to be turned in b4 clinicals...otherwise we can't participate in the clinical Also, in reference to cheap titers and immunizations....go to the following website http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/hhsa/programs/phs/immunization_branch/immunization_clinic_schedule.html If you call around and find a place near you....they'll give you prices. I am going to a Neighborhood Health Care in Escondido to get the Hep B, TB and MMR titer. I know the TB is about 9 or 12 bucks......not sure bout the titer yet :) Hope this helps

Well, Open House was quite an experience yesterday. I felt like I was drinking from a fire hose!! Does anyone happen to know when student orientation will be? I didn't hear them say. Oh yeah....are there any specific shoes for clinical we are supposed to buy. Can we have lace up shoes rather than the slip ons? I bet they will specify all of this in orientation, but I am buying them now....as well as a steth. Knowing my luck I will buy the wrong things :)

I just happened to be in the neighborhood yesterday and decided to stop by the campus to see what it looks like. I definitely know why people are saying the parking will be quite an ordeal. TINY! Is there anyone else who paid for the CPR via paypal? I did and never received confirmation from the lady. Guess I'll find out more tomorrow

finnalillawisk1 .....are u kidding me? you're gpa is way higher than mine and i was accepted to the san diego program. my undergrad cumulative gpa was 3.17 ( bs in engineering). what they mostly look at is your overall science gpa and the last 60 hours of credit you took. my science gpa wa pretty high but not a 4.0 by any means. all i know that out of the last 60 hours i made mostly as, 6 bs and one c. not too stellar....but i think u have a great chance :)

Ok....I know this is quite cheezy....but this link has the name of the person I received my confirmation letter from for Open House. She is the third person listed from the top of the page. It just has her name...no contact info, but it's a start. Hope this helps and sorry for giving the run around. Anytime we mention faculty names on here we get reprimanded. http://www.sdmesa.edu/biology/pdf/BiologySeminorificeries.pdf

I have a couple of names with email addresses I have used to contact people at the SD campus....including the person who sent me my final confirmation letter. But I can't PM anyone until I get 15 posts. I'm working on it :)

Hey KT17 I did the same thing last week and emailed her to reserve my space for Open House and never received confirmation from her. So I decided to contact my advisor here in SD. I sent her an email and she forwarded it to the correct person who's based here in SD to reserve my space. It worked beautifully and I received my confirmation.....finally

What are the pros/cons of travel nursing?
HI, I have been wondering about travel nursing as well. How exactly does it work? Does the agency tell you how long the contract for your services will be up front? Or do you find out once you start the job? Do you have to work with this agency for a minimum length of time or can you just use them once for one specific job? Any info would be great Thanks

Oh yeah I can see how tough this will be for you Laura. A good support system at home is always needed...otherwise you and I will be looking frazzled most days :) I agree we should try to recognize eachother at Open House. It already feels like a lot of us know eachother so well after months of reading eachother's posts and giving encouragement. Surely we will have nametags....oh joy!! Happy Birthday to your little girl:smiley_aa

I have a 16 month old daughter and I am freaking out about time management with just one child!! I can't imagine what parents with more kids will be going through. After reading all the posts I know it's doable...but I'm still nervous:bby:

Nevermind.....I answered my own post. I have to go back to the first time cert class since I let my certification expire....Oops. I am really looking forward to meeting you all this Tuesday. I am really excited and can't believe it is FINALLY here. I feel like I've been in school my entire life so far. LOL...But we're almost done :)

Does anyone know if the CPR class offered at the end of open house is strictly for first time certification? I actually need to get re-certified since mine expired a couple of months ago and I'm just curious if they offer a shorter re-certification class anywhere. I'll probably just end up in the class at the end of open house anyway :)

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
I finished my prereqs prior to applying. I finished them in December and applied for the Fall 09 term. I did take Micro with Lab online with Rio Salado College in Tempe, Arizona. The total cost for that class was around 700 dollars and it started in September and ended in December. It was pretty good and of course a little demanding :) Hope that helps

University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program
Hi everyone, This is my first time to ever post here I just found out today I was accepted to the San Diego program this fall......I am curious about the CPR and immunizations. Are these required prior to starting classes next month? No one from the school has ever mentioned these to me before and I noticed a few posts about them. Will they send us information about all of this? Thanks
