WANTED: Nursing student tidbits of advice
I felt like a nerd too as I wrestled with rather or not to buy a fancy 3 hole puncher and other random office supplies. I picked up a protracter and worried if I would need it. My husband acted that same way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.....he said i would never use a protracter in nursing school...which i probbaly wont. But it was only like 50 cent and it matched my pencil bag..lol ************ GET THE 3 HOLE PUNCH!! I had a single hole punch and with all the handouts and the powerpoints we get my hand got sore so I got a 3 hole punch and I don't regret it I only paid $6.00 for it at Wal-mart but I think I would have paid $20.00!!! And if you do need that protractor in NS please let me know!!

Stethoscope cleaning
I use an alcohol pad most of those wipes make the tube sticky. Maybe that would be a good thing to invent cleaning wipes specifically for stethoscopes.... (note to self)

Test taking realxation techniques
WOW you still get scantrons? I think my stress level would be knocked down 3 notches if we still had written tests all of our tests are on the computer answer the question and submit you can't go back and revisit any question all I can say is WOW how lucky you are!

Test taking realxation techniques
Hi everyone, With school getting ready to start up for me at full speed I wander what others do to relax before preparing for a test. I have my traditions like getting to school 30 minutes early sitting in one of the empty classrooms with my CD player and I listen to my panpipes CD or the sound of the ocean and kinda meditate as my classmates call it I woo-saw~~ I make sure NOT to talk to anyone who is discussing test stuff I find the more ppl talk the more my mind races and I get stressed . When I sit down at the computer I put my earplugs in and that is where they stay til I push the submit button on my computer :typing. So what do you do to "steady" your nerves before a test.

New CNA/PCT in hospital. What shift/department/floor is your favorite? Need Advice!
Do you plan to further your education by going to nursing school? I haven't worked in a hospital but as a nursing student and done clinicals I really think you would learn alot on the med/surg floor. You will see a variety of cases.

what does "on-call" mean?
Pretty much means your screwed!! Ok Ok not exactly but you carry the pager or the phone and basically wait for it to ring and that is usually the only time your friends want to go off and do something and you can't b/c your "on-call". I worked for Hospice and we were on call roughly once every two months we got paid $10.00 extra to carry the pager and then regular pay while we were "out" unless you had already wk'd 40 hrs and that was the only thing good if it ran into overtime!!

What would you have said to this CNA
I am a CNA~~RN in '10 and I would NEVER talk to any of my nurses that way!! The other CNA's maybe (tee-hee-hee j/k) but not a nurse an RN or LPN for that matter!! We are there to help the nurses HENSE the term NURSES ASSISTANT!! I can't even begin to tell you what I would have said but I sure to heck would not have apologized!! I would like to think I would come up with something clever like "make that a rectal temp toots" but in all honesty I prob would have stood there with my jaw on the floor!! I guess some ppl just don't appreciate having a job!!
