  1. I'm sure on how to post a question and I ran across this questions so I will just post mine here. At the nursing home where I work the nurses check the patient's cbgs and give them their insulin in the dining room while they eating. In school we were always taught to take our cbgs before meals and never do anything invasive in the dining area. I'm not comprehending this. If they have already started eating wouldn't their cbg level be high by the time they got their insulin. Someone please explain this to me. I am a new grad and I feel like what I learned in school is totally opposite of what I do and see at the nursing home.
  2. I posted this in another forum so I will post it again. I was a cna working at a nursing home for 11 years and I am now a lpn working at the same facility prn and they told me that my time there did not count. I would be starting over. They said that a cna is a cna and a lpn is a lpn. I don't think that is right especially since it is at the same facility. I can kind of understand not getting extra pay but my 11 years with the company should still count. I should not be considered as a new employee.
  3. correction on line 2. I am NOW a lpn working at the same facility prn.
  4. I worked at a nursing home for 11 years as a cna and was making only $9.10. I recently passed my test and I am not a lpn and working prn at that same nursing home making $16.00. I would say the pay is a big difference. The only thing is that they told me that my 11 years (at that same facility) didn't count. I would be starting over. I don't think that is right. I think my time should still count for something. They told me that a cna is a cna and a lpn is a lpn. Makes no sense.
  5. How much experience as a LPN do you need before getting your RN online? How long are the clinicals and is it true that the clinicals are out of the state that you live in?
  6. How much experience do you have to have as a LPN before getting your RN online? How long are the clinicals and is it true that the clinicals are out of the state that you live in?
  7. I got alot of prioritize and infection control questions on the nclex pn test. I used abc (airway, breathing, circulation) for prioritize questions. For the infection control questions just make sure you know which disease is airborn, droplet, etc... And please study culture questions. You would think that would be of the least things for them to ask but they do...Good luck to you. By the way what state are you in?
  8. Whatever you do don't go home after taking the test and start looking at those nclex books trying to figure out what you got right or wrong. I did that and drove myself insane. I found out today I passed. Good luck to you.
  9. I passed my test! My state doesn't do quick results but my teacher had told me that I would find out Monday but my license came in the mail today! I am so happy!
  10. OMG! you failed at 85 questions. I took my test wed and it shut off at 85 questions. What are the chances of failing 85 questions? Now I am more scared. I got alot of culture questions which I did not know.
  11. I know cna, lpn, and rn are three different jobs. I've worked as a cna for 11 years at a nursing home. Now I am a (well hopefully, still waiting for test results) lpn and I was told by the DON that that it would not count. She said that a cna is a cna and a lpn is a lpn. My 11 years there at the facilty would not count nor my experience as a cna. I would be starting all over. Somehow I feel that is not right?
  12. Louisiana doesn't offer quick results for lpns only rns. I took my test wed and I am still waiting for the results. I have been checking the website to find a license number. I wonder how long does it take to show up. good luck to you. My computer shut off at 85 questions but I'm scared out of my mind that I did not pass.
