  1. I live in Philadelphia, PA.I dont have the time right now to go RN School. I'm thinking about going to PRISM for LPN. What do you get paid an hour, and where do you work? Beacause I'm currently a CNA working in a hospital making 15.96$/hour and on weekends its 17.00$/hour....Is it WORTH going to LPN to make a few dollars more? I heard from other states/cities they start out at like 12, 13$ Thats crazzzzy!!!!!! Also, if you graduate, and get your license in PA, can you work in another state? Im right over the bridge from New Jersey and they'd probably pay more. THANKs!!!!!
  2. Hi Cindy, I have applied over and over again at Holy Redeemer and couldnt get in. I even know a nurse and cna that work there and couldnt get me in, but I did apply at Frankford- Torresdale Hospital on Knights Road, 19114 and got hired in 2 days after applying. I work on an Ortho/Trauma Unit. It is a Nice hospital and great benefits for full time employees. Sorry to tell you but, they may not be hiring......they plan on laying off 400 people. I dont think it would be immediate caregivers, but who knows. The economy is crap, so Good Luck. Just keep applying until you cant anymore, thats what i did, and im so happy i got out of a nursing home, it was too overwhelming for me.
  3. I work in a Hospital in NORTHEAST Philadelphia and the base rate is 14.49 per/hr plus a .75 cent shift diff (i work 2nd shift) So i make 15.24 an hour and on the weekends i make a dollar more plus the shift diff, so 16.24$ an hour. And im still fresh out of CNA school. I only had 4 months exp in home health care, and 2 months in a nursing home. Home care paid 9.75 an hour. Nursing home paid 11.50, 12.50 on weekends. So I guess it all depends on where u work.
  4. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant who only has experience with home care and Nursing Homes. Basically Geriatric Care. What is it like being a CNA on an Ortho/Trauma unit in a Hospital? Ive been in Orientation for the last week, not on the unit yet, so a little nervous. What can i expect? Is it overwhelming like a Nursing home?
  5. okay, so im applying to work for holy redeemer hospital in meadowbrook, pa, but i dont know what to apply for. im a cna and there are positions that say "cna- (hosp. t.c.u) and also telemetry.......what do these mean, and which is a good place to start ya think?
  6. i passed my exams today! officially a certified nursing assistant. i'm soooo excited! hope to be an lpn, or rn sometime soon. wish me luck, and congrats to everyone else who passes as well!
