Wow that is the most inaccurate and discouraging advice i have heard in a long time. ASN grads probably have twice as much clinical experience than a BSN grad. I am not taking anything away from the BSN grads but that is a fact just about anywhere here in the state of MD. Furthermore, I am a proud grad of an ASN program and was hired directly into the ER with NO previous hospital or healthcare experience. Don't believe the hype because that is truly BS!

ED Baltimore, MD I got this job as a result of alot of research, diligence, and prayer! I have always wanted to be an ER nurse and I was determined not to settle for anything other than that. The only problem was that here in the Baltimore metro area, many RN managers want new grads with experience (tech, EMT, EMS,etc.) and I didn't have that. The hospital that I was very interested in was the same hospital that I did my last 2 clinical rotations at. In addition to contacting the nurse recruiter there, I contacted nurse recruiters from every hospital in the area just to get a feel for what they were looking for in a new grad. Also, to see what type of benefits the hospitals were offering including base salaries (don't be afraid to ask!!!). I was able to narrow my selection down to 2 hospitals that were really attractive: Union Memorial Hospital and Northwest Hospital Center (NWHC was the hospital that I did my rotations at and absolutely loved and was my first choice.) I think the determining factor for me was that the RN recruiter at NWHC was very interested in me as a candidate because of my passion for the ER and that I was very professional and intelligent. The RN recuiter at UMH was more resistant and insistent on ED experience. The NW recruiter was able to set me up an interview with the ED manager and she was very impressed with me because I have worked in the food industry and am very skilled in customer service which is huge element of nursing these days. The day after our interview I was offered the job. I could not have been more satisfied and excited!!!! I have a very competitive salary ($26.21/hr +$4.25 diff for nights), great health insurance, tuition assistance, etc. I think its very important for you to be able to sell yourself and really emphasize how good you are at customer service. Do your homework and get in contact with the recruiters. Call as many times as you need to, tailor your resume to the facility that you are applying to (ex. you may can include a quote from the mission statement that reflects some aspect of your motivation and ambition to join their facility). Do what ever you need to do, because employment is definitely scarce these days and you are competing against many other NGs as well! Good Luck:typing:yeah:

I took my NCLEX on June 30th, and I left the testing center with mixed feelings. I felt like I probably passed because I only got 75 ?s, however there were so many ?s that I felt unsure about. I had all infection control, priority, teaching, meds, and SATA questions. No math, no OB! I think that it is common for most people to not feel confident about their results after they take the test. Everybody (including myself) say they felt horrible when the test was over yet they still passed. This morning I checked the BON, and my results were in and I nearly fell out of my bed! I felt so relieved when I saw that I had passed the exam! I thanked GOD for about 20 minutes:redbeathe. I haven't slept in like 2 days because I was sooo stressed out:banghead:. I just want to tell everyone preparing for the nclex or waiting for your results, there is light at the end of the tunnel! I can't say don't be nervous or concerned because that is natural but if I can pass I'm sure anyone can. The test is design for you to PASS NOT TO FAIL! Keep that in mind. Good luck to all! :prdnrs:

Sounds like you are definitely prepared. I got a 68 on the Kaplan exam and I passed my NCLEX in 75 questions. Good luck!!!

Wow! You and I must've had the same exact exam! I had so much infection control, SATA, and priorities that I wanted to vomit!!! I got 75 as well but I'm too afraid to do the Pearson trick. Besides who can say if thats really reliable anyway? I don't want to make myself anymore anxious and sick than I already am LOL!! I will get my results tomorrow, so wish me luck!!

8 business days??? Wow thats a long time! Our results are posted promptly on the Pearsonvue website in 48 hours. What is the process for finding out your results?

Hey guys I just took my NCLEX yesterday and I am really trying to cope. I prayed so hard for success, and I got 75 questions. Everybody tells me that if you get 75 ?s thats a good indicator of passing, and my test was all SATA and priorities and teaching. Or in other words, high level, diificult questions. The only reason that I think I passed is because I got 75 questions. I'm very anxious and I should get my results on Thursday. Wish me luck!!!
