RN to BSN, OR RN to MSN?
I was wondering if I could get some opinions from people who have gone back to school after getting their ADN, or who are about you. I can do an online program for 18 months to get my BSN. I am also 21 years old. I have recently been contemplating just going the whole 9 yards and going BSN to MSN. I would like to eventually get my masters, and why not do it while I am young and able to? The only thing nagging at me about getting my masters is the fact that I don't know what I want to specialize or do yet. I just graduated, and passed my boards July 21. without a job prospect... so im not really sure what i would 100% want to do. The other thing I'm worried about is that I am too young without enough experience to get my masters. I had teachers tell me in the past to just get my BSN and stop and wait to get my masters, but does it matter??? I just want to get it over with!! I also don't know what getting a masters in nursing entails.. im going to look that up now, but... Help!

I PASSSSSSSSSSSSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
connie1945Re: I PASSSSSSSSSSSSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you give me some tips on how you study for the nclex? absolutely!!! -- My school offered a week long Kaplan class, so I took that and then did the QBank and Question trainers, along with studying Saunders 4th Edition. Saunders is a-w-e-s-o-m-e for content review. I started with my weakest areas first, which were peds and maternity. I would do the questions at the end of each chapter, and if I got a 75% or higher on each section I would just quickly review that chapter (esp. things I were a little weak in) and then move on. the chapters in saunders that broke down the drugs were GREAT. really really good. (the questions in saunders are too easy to just study alone for the NCLEX, but they do give you a good standing as to what you know and what you need to go over!!!) I also bought the 3 week NCSBN review because I heard it was like the NCLEX. It was $40 or $50 for the 3 week trial and it offfered a ton of questions + content review, but if you do Saunders for content just focus on the questions on the NCSBN site if you decide to go that way! I liked both Kaplan and Saunders. I personally thought NCLEX was similar to if not easier, than Kaplan.. but that was just my experience. I also made notecards for myself on things that I wanted to make sure that I knew, like infection control --> standard, contact, airborne, droplet precautions, and a few drug classes. I studied everyday for 2 months for severalllll hours/day. I just wanted to make sure I passed, and passed on my first try!!! I put in a lot of work and am glad that it paid off. I hope that helps you!!!

just took the NCLEX - 75Q's.
Okay.. just got home from taking my test for the 1st time. Got shut off at 75 questions. I'm too scared to do the pearson vue trick so i might just wait to get my quick results tomorrow. I didn't think it was THAT BAD (definitely some challenging questions) which is making me worrrrrrried. I recognized all of the meds, whether or not I got the question right i'm not sure.. but i just hope i got PASSING level questions and not FAILING level ones, which is why i'm so unsure. EEK. Anyone feel like I do and still passed??? and got shut off at 75?

Am I doing tooo much!?
I've completed all of Kaplan, just doing the questions that I missed now. I just enrolled in the 3-week NCSBN NCLEX-RN prep course, and I am finishing up reviewing the last couple chapters in my Saunders book. I can easilyyy study all day just because I am so nervous about this test! I take it July 21. I have been getting really decent scores on my Q-Banks and QT's and was feeling confident, but over the past couple of days I have not been doing good..!! it's getting really discouraging because my scores were nice & my test date is getting closer!! I do a ton of questions a day.. prob around 200-250. Everyone is telling me to take it easy and not do as much.. and im starting to listen because i think it can be over-kill. i've been studying like this for almost 2 complete months and it's taking its toll. I just can't wait to take it!!! I'm just nervous because my scores seem to be dropping, which is crazy to me!!! Anyone????!
