Hi Kristen, Don't get discouraged! It might take a little while to get acquainted to the Island. Just stay positive, and be nice to and friendly to everyone you meet. I don't really know about nursing advice, since I am not yet even accepted to nursing school, but that's just some advice about Hawaii. It can be hard to get hired untill you have some local references.

Hi, I have applied to UH Hilo as a transfer student (pre nursing). If I am accepted, I will apply to the BSN program for Fall 2010. I live in Waikiki and my plan is to move to Hilo Dec 09 and take some more prerequisites and adjust to living on the BI and hopefully be accepted to the nursing program. I am thinking UH Hilo many be a better studying atmosphere for me than Waikiki. I am interested in hearing from any students or alumni from the UH Hilo nursing program. Do you feel like you are getting a quality education. Is it extreamly difficult to get accepted like at KCC? I have very good grades 3.6GPA and some sciences completed. I am also a massage therapist, but I do not have experience in hospitals, or a strick medical atmosphere. Thanks

Hello! I am massage therapist looking to become a Nurse!! The grass is always greener. I have worked in spas, I used to make good money when I would work crazy (like nurses) 12hrs a day Sat and Sun and I'd be soooo sore! I am doing my own thing b/c we got really bad pay cuts and people stopped tipping and my insurance got cut~ I am making a little $ but when I get my business going I think I can do well. I am interested if nursing is good for me. I love the luxury of Spas, but I really feel my life purpose involves doing more instensive healing work. Do have any advise on the nursing end for me? I can answer and massage related questions.

Aloha! I am a massage therapist in Waikiki and I have some pre-nursing courses done from college before I went to massage school. We started getting pay cuts so I decided to research more about nursing and go to the infor session at KCC. I was not for Jan 09 a res b/c I am 23 and my parents from NJ claimed me (even though I moved to HI when I was 20). ANYWAY-I applied to nursing school in NJ and was accepted with a small scholarship to Felician College of New Jersey. I don't know much about it, and I'd have to radically change my life, but Id get free rent and can live in quiet boring house in NJ cold and live with my parents. I am not sure If I'd rather take the chances to stay in Hawaii get into a school here. Although I live Waikiki, I don't think KCC is good for me b/c Waikiki is too fun. I am thinking about UH Hilo BSN program. Does anyone know about the quality of the program there? Any advise about nursing school, UH Hilo. My parents and NJ stress me out, but they are supportive of me going to nursing school. Hawaii is my love, but I am worried I won't get into a program, and I will have a hard time transitioning to become a student because most of my friends work in waikiki and are not students. I think Big Island will be easier for me to focus, + I want to to BSN b/c I have 2 yrs college finished already.

Hello! I am born in Raised in NJ, but I have been living in Oahu for the past few years, and I am now a resident and can go for state tuition. I applied to Felician College and got accepted with a small scholarships so I am pretty much thinking I am going to attend. Otherwise I would take my chances getting into Community College Nursing program in Hawaii. LOL!~ though choice! Does anyone know anyone who went to Felician College in Lodi for Nursing?
