  1. dmzmo5 those are great and valid questions to ask and these types of forums are suppose to be the place to ask them in addition to arranging an informational interview in person which has been standard in the past in all professions. it's a shame that the person who previously responded telling you to google your questions...do the research wasted her time and yours with that response. sometimes people who have been in a profession/job for a while, whatever that may be, forget what it was like when they were starting out and get impatient and can't offer some personal insight to help someone else. i also asked some similar questions before and got only a few responses which were however kind and helpful. i was/am surprised that i didn't receive more responses and or help and would still like some feedback still. i wish you luck and hope that you get answers to some if not all of your questions. i'm with you, it is helpful to get different peoples perspectives on things.
  2. For those of you new LVN, doesn't the school where you went offer assistance in finding a job? How about where you did your clinicals, they are familiar with you perhaps they are hiring?
  3. I haven't heard anything about those schools and live in Yucaipa as well. I've checked Concorde and seems like they are having a lot of staff turn over right now as well, makes me kind of wary as I thought they were probably the best in the area? Have you checked any of the schools in Onterio area? Good Luck
  4. Thank you for the support!! How when you first started, as a nurse, did you feel overwhelmed and if so for how long until you'd say it clicked? What do you recall really struggling with the most?
  5. good for you and all of your hard work. what type of cattiness is going on? i don't think it ever stops. i worked somewhere, mostly women, and employees in there late 50's still were catty at times. just try and ignore them. let them waste there time not yours, it will all come around and bite them in the butt later professionally and personally. it just shows that they are insecure. ***what type, if any, of homework do you get? any writing of reports....
  6. congrats!! do mind if i asked how much you studied each night/day? where you able to enjoy any down time? do you have any special study tips? i haven't been in school in awhile so i'm seeking any help or words of encouragement. i'm really nervous about the math/formula portion; i was only a c student back when i was in college math.
  7. Thank you for your message. How long have you been an LVN? How is it going? I find, from what I'm reading..., that I get really excited about going to LVN school and then scared about making any mistakes as an LVN. People aren't perfect and I know that mistakes happen, but I'm trying not to let this fear stop me before I even get started, trying being the key word. Its comforting when I get words of advice from people who feel or have felt the same way.
  8. Hello everyone, This may be a silly question to some, but I was wondering, for any of you that are currently an LVN/LPN (or any students for that matter), do you recall psyching yourself out, prior to school and/or starting your job, about all of the responsibilities (including the more personal area duties) of being an LVN/LPN, about possibly making a mistake, would you be able to do the job.... And find once you were in the job that you realized that you wasted a lot of time worrying for nothing?
  9. Hey, thanks for responding. I hear mixed things about the LVN/LPN schooling, some say its hard some say it's not too bad. I hope the fact that I could endure and pass 4 years of college I can do this. Since this is a career change for me do you mind if I ask what you did prior to going to nursing school? What did you find the hardest? Are you enjoying your career choice?
  10. Thank you for replying to some of my questions! I feel a little more encouraged. Hopefully I'll hear more advice and responses to my questions.:nuke:
  11. Hello, I was wondering if anybody could help me by offering any advice and/or incite to an LVN career and schooling. I am 43 and am going back to school to become an LVN. Besides the fact that I am changing careers (from a 9-5 type of office job) and my age, I haven't been in school, since graduating college, for about 20 years. I have a ton of questions but will start with a few to get motivated and to lessen my fear/anxiety. Has anyone become an LVN at or about my age and or transitioned from an office job? Has anybody done an informational interview prior to committing to the Nursing field? Is the 52 week (Concorde) program really hard? Don't you get any breaks? How often are you tested? How often would you say that you study a night/day? Any, Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Help, I'm so confused
