I got my acceptance letter. I have 228 points. I didn't take the nutrition class yet. This is the third time I have applied to a RN program. The other 2 times was at Palm Beach State College when I lived in Palm Beach County. It is even tougher to get in down there, last time I missed it by .3 points and I even scored higher on the NLN down there. Just keep trying if you did not get in this time, do what you can to get more points such as retaking the NLN.

Some of the best nurses I have met have an associate's degree. BSN is great, too.

I tried to see if any seats were available for the march NLN and PBCC didn't even show up as a testing site. The only Florida school that showed was Pensacola and that is only for Pensacola students. Does anyone know why?

Thank you BBLisa. It is very discouraging. I had enough points to get accepted to Belle Glade, but I really didn't want to go there. Too bad of an area and I worry if I broke down over there or something. What did you get on the NLN the first time? I ran out of time because I had to keep going to the restroom...being preg does that to you.

The only class that I didn't take for points is the nutrition class because over the summer it was already full when I tried to register and this term I didn't take it because it wouldn't have counted towards the spring class anyways. I might take that and retake the NLN even though I thought the 88 I got should've been high enough. I knew the cut off because in the denial email that they sent me, it said it in there. You can always call them and ask what the cut off was too. Do you have a bachelors already in something else? I think that is one of the reasons that it is so competitive is because people with higher degrees get a lot of extra points.

I was denied for the third time. I have 25.6 points. The cut off was 25.97, such a bummer, yet again.

Does anyone know what volunteer work qualifies as medical experience?

Mummiluvsadrian, Thank you for the kind words. When did you try to sign up for the test? I just went on and like you said there are no seats left. No seats in Pennsacola either. It also said that the pennsacola site is for PJC students only. Is new york the only place that we can retake it? I saw you got an 89...I got an 88 myself. Damn those 1 and 2 stinkin points...lol. What else are you going to do to get extra points? I havent taken the elements of nutrition but it is filled up for summer so if i take it in spring it wont count anyways. The only other point I can consider at this point is the work experience but I dont have any work experience unless I got a CNA certificate and did that for a bit. When was your baby born? My son is 7 and my daughter is 9 months old. I also considered going for LPN..and I am regretting not doing that to begin with but now after all these classes it would be like starting over except it knocks a year off of RN school with bridge program. Have you considered going to Belle Glade. I am considering that but I have heard it is pretty rough out there plus a long drive.:typing

I don't want to give up. It's just been a difficult journey especially when I have kids. Might retake the nln to see if I can score a little bit higher.

Hello all, Congrats to those that got in. I didn't get in. It is very upsetting because it took a lot to get the points that I have. I wish that I had just went to school for something more simple like Dental assisting. I am thinking about just applying to Belle Glade even though I don't want to go there. I could retake the nln. I got an 88 which originally I thought was a good score especially since I was pregnant and had to keep going to the bathroom and I ran out of time.
