  1. Some places are saying they are and some places are saying they aren't, so buyer beware.
  2. So, are you girls ready? It's just a few weeks until we start. Did everyone get their invite to orientation? My letter said that orientation is Jan. 5th at 8:30. Is everyone else's the same?
  3. Wow when did it become practice to be agressively mean to students? You may not be getting paid for it but hell why not spend a couple extra seconds to help answer a few questions and be a mentor to a student. My god when I was at clinicals we had the instructor and the CNA's around the place helping us. Anything we needed, questions, reassurance, or just a quick chat. By the end I felt good about it, the first day I felt like crap. My resident didn't like me, was in the beginning stages of dementia, kept slapping at me and crying, and my partner kept running off. You know it wouldn't kill you to give a few minutes of your time to someone. I don't know that I would have survived my clinicals without it, and after all isn't it part of your job to be an advocate. Well then advocate helping to make good CNA's. So, then maybe you won't see so many of them in the news because they did something wrong and accidentally hurt or god for bid killed someone. I help new students now when they come out for the first time, and it may not be in my "job description" but I'm happy to do it. Seriously, have some compassion you were a student once too. Try and remember how you felt on your first day.
  4. Oh no Nellz then we have different schedules I think cause my clinicals are on Tuesdays. Well that stinks! My schedule is wrong because they signed me up for Anatomy and Physiology, and I'm already taking that now at community college. They said they had to put it down cause I'm not done though. They said once I am done I can bring my transcripts up and they will take me out of the class. I had to take majoritively loans too, but hey at least we will be able to get out and work a bit before repayment starts.
  5. I picked up my schedule last night. Of course I need it fixed already. Ugh, just figures.
  6. Yeah we will all be in Media because the LPN program is only offered in Media. You are right about that Nellz it does make it somewhat less scary. Do you guys have facebook?
  7. That's awesome Nellz! Congrats. I had my Financial Aide meeting this week. Everything is going to be paid for what a relief.
  8. How's everyone doing in the process. I have to do the drug screen sometime this week or next week.
  9. I'm going for the associates, but I think with my transfer credit I just need to take the LPN courses and they will be able to give me my Associates.
  10. My program is at Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. It starts in January, it's a day class, and you graduate in Dec of 2011. It's about $21,000 for the year. It's located in Media, PA. There website is Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, Media, PA | Two Year Accredited College | P.I.T., but you have to apply in person.
  11. The interview is after the acceptance letter, that's why it's contingent acceptance.
  12. To be honest I am a new CNA just accepted to LPN school, but I have also been working in big business for most of my adult life, and the one thing I got from that work experience is there are somethings that are not appropriate for conversation no matter where you work. I have however seen this everywhere. It's typically a question of up bringing and education that cause people to not be aware of ethics. However, in my first day of CNA class, which we were reminded of at the start of clinicals was once you enter these doors your outside issues are to be left there, because it does put paitents at risk when agression or anger play a part in these issues. Just my 2 cents and what do I really know, but it's how I was taught. I personally treat every paitent like a family member whether I'm acting as a CNA, an EMT, or any other role I take on. Frankly, it's how I'd want to be treated.
  13. I received my acceptance letter on Friday. I'm officially the class of 2011!!!!!
  14. I got my acceptance letter on Friday! Now I have to do more paperwork. WAHOO! At least I know I have a contingent spot for now. Next steps are a drug test and copies of your driver's license and social card. Am I the only one in so far?
  15. The paperwork is not that bad it just takes up more time then you want it to. The worst part is those darn titers. Yuck! No fun.
