  1. I accepted a surgical floor position (doesn't include the residency program and starts a lot sooner, but I really enjoyed the nurse manager and I think it will be great) so it seems we will be seeing each other around. We move in 2 weeks, yikes! I'm also excited and nervous. I recently read they have fire ants, brown recluse, and black widows in NC for those who are potentially moving from out of state... not too bad, I can handle that
  2. I agree with Clementine1, it was one of the nicest interviews I have done. They really just want to get a feel for the type of nurse/person you are and they want to find you the right fit as far as position goes; so I would prepare to have your reasons for wanting to work in the position you are interviewing for. Good Luck!
  3. Did they contact you by phone or email with the offer? I've had issues with my phone and I need to get a new one, I'm just hoping I'm not missing important phone calls!
  4. Thanks! I believe it went well. I was also interviewed for a surgical floor; I believe I was unofficially offered a position, but I guess they have to wait until after a background check before it becomes official. I'm so excited, everyone seemed super nice and I felt as though I could feel at home there...just a matter of knowing for sure so we can start the moving arrangements! Has anyone gotten an official confirmation? I forgot to ask the oh so important question of when should I expect to hear back. Also, does anyone know if all of the residency programs start in February or do they have different dates?
  5. That is so awesome! It would be great to have your pick, but I'm glad they got back to you so quickly
  6. Thanks! I hope you hear back soon!
  7. I just got confirmation of an interview on 11/05 for the maternal/child FCCU residency position! I'm so stoked/nervous/stoked/nervous. I will let you all know how it goes; it would be neat if we all ended up working together! FYI: I applied mid June, got an email with the packet info Oct 8th, returned the packet Oct 10th, and received an email about the interview this past Monday. I don't know anything about pay rate; as long as I get to start nursing and can afford to eat, I'm down!
  8. I have also applied and I am waiting to hear back. I would like any info others would like to share. If called, I will be traveling from Missouri. I have read great reviews on various blogs (allnurses.com included). Mostly they talk about the camaraderie which is great, but I get terribly nervous in interviews so any info on that would be much appreciated! I have also had trouble with my yahoo account lately due to the recent new formatting of the website; I hope that hasn't hurt my chances, fingers crossed! I hope you and I hear back soon, Lmonchin, and good luck on the interview Clementine1! I am so excited to start working as a nurse, if you couldn't tell from all the exclamation marks, and I like the idea of "sharing experiences and encouraging one another." Hopefully more people will post!
  9. I absolutely love the Fuer series (I bought the pharm one online from Amazon around $100) but it was worth it to me because I had a crappy pharm instructor and have a mental block when it comes to pharm. The woman doing the review is also not boring and says some things in exciting ways which helps to mentally recall the when needed.
  10. I too received this scholarship and would like info from anyone with experience in finding approved facilities (I find the website to be not very helpful in this). The only part of my experience thus far that I would like to share is to make sure you process your EVFs on time and with a trusted school affiliate (I somehow was not told that the school affiliate I had asked to assist me with this did not process this form correctly and missed a much needed monthly sitpend that I will never get back). Other than the complications with finding a job once I graduate, I think this program is great and I would not be able to do as well as I have in nursing school without it!
  11. I have just started at my local community college, unfortunately it's been a few years since I've done math, and I tested into Beginning Algebra. I was curious if anyone happens to know if you need a "college credit" math class to eventually get your BSN? The teacher I have for Beginning Algebra informed me that I may want to take the next Algebra class in the fall since most BSNs require it. I don't want to waste time or money, and I haven't seen anything in my research that would imply that I need it, I don't want to get behind either. If anyone knows it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
