  1. No. And as a mother I would like to say, I NEVER thought of my self as an incubator. That is a machine. Besides, realistically I KNEW what I was doing and what the consequences were when "excuse the crudity" I spread my legs. I got pregnant at 15. My ex mother in-law tried to talk me into an abortion. I did'nt do it. Thank God. I have a wonderful daughter and TWO beautiful grand children that have brought so much joy to my life. While I write this my little grandson just came into the room to see his nana. Blessed am I.
  2. DITTO THAT! I,m not an RN yet, but I want to travel after I get some time in. I think this is a GREAT idea. Someone has their thinking cap on. I will be keeping up withthis idea and see if I can join others that would like to see a change in licensing. It would be nice to see nurses going where they are needed without having to go thru red tape everytime they go to another state. Time for a change!
  3. Speculating, THANKS! :) Finally, someone has explained a simple truth. I too, was thinking that I should be studying for that darn test. But , it makes much more sense to do it the way you explained. At least for people like me. (40 something) I think there is enough to study without trying to freak yourself out about a test that is far enough into the future to let one concentrate on the task at hand. I for one thank you! :kiss
  4. I got over my fear of needles by volunteering everytime a class needed an arm to stick! It helped me. But, as for vomit! I'm a wuss. :chuckle You'll be fine.
  5. I am a Regitered Medical Assistant and it has been a GREAT experience. I plan to become an RN. I can do IVs under the guidence of the doctor I worked for. He was internal medicine and taught me how to start IVs out of necessity. I was not allowed to start if he was not in the office. Medical assisting is a large field and covers a lot of territory. I learned a lot. But, if you can, just go staight to nursing school.
  6. Elkpark, I agree with you about debt and education. I have to use student loans. I will be checking out a program today. I am j not just going to give up! Not in my vocabulary, at least not yet. I always believed if you can't go over the mountain, go thru it. I really appreciate all the info and suggestions from all of you. By the way, I have had a LOT of encouragement from RNs that come into my workplace. They usually say things like, "Go for it, we really need you" This is what helps me and others like me, is this encouragement.
  7. USA987 Thanks! That sounds good to me. :) I checked on a private school today and they will be offering an RN program for LPNs. I was told if you are already an LPN, the program at this school will be 1 year for RN. I am still checking this out. One nurse told me, if you are an LPN, then become an RN, just look at as more experience. I really want to be an RN, so I will do what I have to do. Thanks again, USA987
  8. HI! Everyone. I just found out that I will not be able to go to school full time. I can't afford to be out of the job market long enough to get my RN right now. It has been suggested to me , that I should go ahead and go for LPN then get into the RN fast track program. Has anyone done this? How does it work? I REALLY love nursing, and I am trying to figure out how I can reach my goal. I am an RMA right now. Any info or suggestions you have will be appreciated. Have a great day! And thanks !
