  4. Yes I did!!!! It really works!!!! I got my quick results to confirm that I passed. My name popped on the state website days later.
  5. thank you!!!!!!
  6. Thank you. Congrats to you as well. You are right about using the information in the way you learn. I'm just glad that its over.
  7. Hello everyone, I promised to write my experience after taking the NCLEX. So, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I started nursing school in May of 2010. In the beginning, it wasn't so bad but as time progressed it started to get very difficult for me. I failed one course and dropped 2 other courses. I almost wanted to give up but knew that I would be much more depressed if I didn't try. So, I finally graduated in December 2014. I told myself that I refused to fail the NCLEX and was going to do everything in my power to succeed on the 1st try. I started studying the week of 20 January. I would study in 4 hour increments but take 10 minute breaks on each hour. The resources I used were Kaplan (provided by my school), Hurst (my friend gave me her code), Saunders (primarily for questions) and a private tutor. I know many people will think this is doing too much but only you know what's best for you. I did 500 questions a week for 6 weeks straight. My scores on the qbanks were between 55% to 61%. I was getting between 60 to 71% on Saunders. My tutor really helped with content. Hurst was also good for content. For each question I read every rationale and looked up all the wrong answers to all questions. I say all this to say that the NCLEX is possible if you put forth the effort. I had over 200 questions. I had a lot of SATA, who do you see first, 1 math, 3 ekg, and a few drugs. Honestly, I believe if you have a good content review and know how to answer the questions you will be fine. On the flip side, I would not recommend anyone try and take the NCLEX without preparing. I have been through so much these past 4 years and i'm so glad I didn't give up on my dreams. I want to let everyone know that I struggled the entire time in nursing school but still by the grace of God passed on the first try. Whatever you do DON'T GIVE UP!!!! I truly hope my post inspires someone who may be feeling depressed or feeling like nursing is not for them to keep striving for success. REMEMBER: YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS YOU.
  8. I agree with Knights2014. Yes, I am still at neumann. I am in the evening program. It has its challenges but I am holding on. It is very intense but again it does prepare you very well for the NCLEX.
  9. Thank you so much Diana. I received your emails and I appreciate your help. Thanks, ceema
  10. Hello Diana2520, I don't graduate nursing school until next year but I was wondering if you could send me a copy of your study guide that helped you pass the NCLEX. Any help is much appreciated. My email is [email protected]
  11. Hello LifeofaNurse, The questions were split 50/50. I knew the black and white stuff because I read my material and book inside out. However, when it came to the application stuff that's where my weakness falls. I know the material but applying is where I get messed up. On every test in Med surg I had it down to the last 2 answers and always seemed to pick the wrong one. I just could choose the right answer. I really appreciate all the advice you and the others have given. thank you.
  12. Thank you so much Meghantk. I need all the motivation I can get. Since January will be my 2nd time taking it I have no room for error.
  13. Hello NSGstudent12, I don't have a study partner. I use to have one but she isn't in my class anymore. If I see my classmates studying in the library, I might join but I tend to stay away because they do more talking about everything else instead of focusing on the material at hand.
  14. Hello All, I am currently in nursing school and I wanted some advice from other nursing students or anyone that could provide me with tips on getting through nursing school from this point. So, my situation is this: In the Spring of 2011 I took Med Surg I and Mental Health. I passed Mental Health but failed Med-Surg I. I will be re-takinng this course in January 2012. Basically, with that failure I have 1 strike against me. You can only fail 2 courses in my program and after that you are removed from the program. I studied really hard in Med-Surg I but just couldn't pass my tests. I knew the material, talked with my professors in that course, and even went to the test taking specialist for help. So, I am writing to anyone who has been in this situation before or anyone that could give this young, hopeful nursing student some advice on going forward. Any advice would be helpful and trust me I won't get offended by any constructive criticism. I take comments at face value and would appreciate your honesty when responding. Thanks.
  15. @ImThatGuy, thank you so much for your opinion. It is really appreciated.
  16. Hello Everyone, I am writing this post to get some advice. I am currently a junior in my nursing program and am currently taking med surg and mental health. Right now, I am not doing so great in Med surg. My question to everyone is should I drop this course and lose my money or should I stay and be at risk for failing this course altogether. My grades are exam 1-75.51 and exam 2-65.31. We still have exams 3, 4, final, and the kaplan testing that helps earn points to my overall grade. My 3rd test is on the same day of the drop date and I asked for an extension but was denied. So, I am really confused on what I should do.......Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, ceema
  17. Nurse. BettyRN, These classes require alot of your time. You have to study alot to get a better understanding of what is being presented in lecture. I read alot because I have to be able to critically think and apply all the material when it appears on the exams. I would say study everyday at work, home, lunchbreaks, etc.... Trust me it does pay off.....The book for 205 is fundamentals of nursing by potter and perry.....I don't remeber the edition off hand but it changes sometimes each semester.....
  18. Congratulations Jim. I will tell you to stay focused and have as much fun now because there will be no time for that once you start. Hard work and determination will get you through. ceema
  19. Hello all, I am pleased to say that I successfully passed my 2nd semester at Neumann University. I am officially a Junior. It was very challenging but I managed to hang on and pull through at the end. I can honestly say that hard work and being dedicated is what helped me get through this semester. I had alot going on and of course I did get side tracked but found my way back. So, next semester includes Med-surg and Mental health with clinicals. I am excited but nervous at the same time. I definitely need this break to get well rested for what lies ahead. I will keep you posted on how I do in the months to come.:yeah: Ceema:D
  20. Hi Jim, Yes, that is correct. The only extra things I had to take were another religion, and biochemistry. Other than that everything else was fine.
  21. Hi Jim, Most likely all your classes will be able to carry over to Neumann. I transferred from a community college and all my classes were accepted. You can transfer from part time to full time too. thanks, ceema
  22. @lacygirl I'm making it.....Its a little rough for me but i'm hanging on.....I will let you know how this semester goes..
  23. Try talking to your counselors and instructors.... I am new to Neumann and am currently in Nur 206 so I can't really say much but I know that they've been willing to help when I needed it.
  24. Hello bsnstudent2rn, email me at [email protected]. for some reason its taking too long for me to send you a private message.
  25. Hi bsnstudent2RN, I am currently in Neumann's nursing program and Wednesday is my last day of my 1st semester and I will tell you that its very challenging but I believe its doable. As far as acceptance into the program, I didn't find it to be too hard but Neumann does have certain criteria requirements that must be met. If you do get accepted I RECOMMEND that you study and stay focused because to me its not easy. I hope this helps....
