  1. Take Chem & Lab first! It will help you in Physio and Micro...not so much in Anatomy...but where I go A&P are two different classes, it's not a combined A&P class...it's either Anatomy or Physio @ two different times, w/two diff proff doesn't even have to be the same semester. So, I took Physio and Chem and it paired up nicley :)
  2. Hello- I took Physiology and Chem, Chem Lab, and Cultural studies all while working 25 hours a week. It can be done, you just need to be very well organized with your time. It can be done! And this semester I took Behavioral Stats with Micro, Micro Lab, and Asian Philosophy and I worked 30 hrs per week....although I did get a freakin' C in Micro...all the rest I got A's....so now I have to re-do micro in the fall......
  3. Dear MotivatedOne- I know what you mean in re: to the cost being so much more affordable at a CC. I was accepted from the beginning at the Universities but I opted for the CC b/c I wasn't going to be able to pay for tuition. PLUS, the professors at the CC also teach at the big schools...and they're just as good ya know :)
  4. Hello Again :) The book that I told you about earlier is titled "Nursing School Entrance Exams" and it's by McGraw Hill. Again, it's about $20 at Barnes & Noble and I highly recommend it, you'll be so pleased with your purchase. One thing I liked about the book it that it tells you which subjects you'll be tested on for which test. These are the ones it covers: NLN PAX-RN, NET, TEAS, PSB-RN, & C-NET-RN, and it shows you exactly how each subject within each test will be scored and how much time you're allowed. Hope it helps!!
  5. I feel your pain as does everyone else! As nurses, we will be the back bone of the medical field and it's the hard work and dedication now that will pave the road for brighter futures not only for ourselves but for our families. I too work, not in the corporate world but in the food and beverage industry. I'm a bartender/cocktailer and server and I go to school full time JUST to FINISH the darn pre-reqs. On-top of that I'm planning my August wedding. So to say that I'm busy is an understatement but I wouldn't change it for anything. It's difficult for a reason, I mean...we're going to be in charge of patients lives...and the outcome of their lives....I truly believe the pre-reqs are as difficult as they are in order to ween out the bad apples. I think that the actual nursing school itself will be much more demanding than just theory...but the application will be the true test. And I'm sure that if a person has worked his or her way through school while being a student either part-time/full-time then at least you'll know how to manage your time and multi-task. Keep your head up. The road makes us ready for the actual climb.
  6. Girl, while in micro you wont even have time for yourself let alone a man. I just finished micro this Spring and got a C, which means I have to take it over again in the Fall in order to get into the state schools here in San Diego. Getting that C completely through me off course because I'm an A honors student at that. So...I know your heart aches...but trust me...it's worth it I'm sure. You will find someone when the time is right. If you find someone now you're going to be all giddy and want to spend all your time with this person, when in fact you must dedicate all your time to studying micro. You will have labs that you may have to go in on your off days...ugh. Best wishes!!!
  7. I purchased a book from Barnes & Noble called "Nursing School Entrance Exams" it was $20 and it has ALL the tests in it. It tells you exactly what kind of problems are on it, and how it's scored. It has sample tests, and it tells you how long you have for each section. PLUS the book has awesome tips on other nursing criteria. I highly recommend this book:yeah:. There will be random stuff on the TEAS like tectonic plates and what not...lol. Hope it helps!
  8. Hello Guys! I have to tell you how grateful I am to have such a network of nursing students! All of your questions have been at one time my questions that I have asked my counselors, peers and the medical staff at various hospitals This is my first post, I registered today & could not wait to meet you guys! I'm currently a student at City College, I will apply to Grossmont, City & Southwestern at the end of the Summer (RN-programs). And once I finish Organic Chem & Bio Chem I will be able to apply to Cal State San Marcos and SDSU. I can't remember off hand if NU requires O-Chem/BioChem...but I'm sure I will be applying with them as well. Ahh....I'm so frustrated at SDSU b/c for the longest time they were giving more points if you were bilingual...and as of last year or so they are no longer giving points for being bilingual. So because of that I became afraid that I wasn't going to look good on paper...so I decided to become a CNA. Once I became certified, that was that. I didn't work as a CNA, I didn't do anything w/my certification...so hopefully SDSU will give me some credit...lol. Also, you're only given 10pts for 100-999 hrs of volunteer work, and 15 pts of 1,000 hrs...who has time to volunteer 1,000+ hours plus school/lab AND regular work....and I'm assuming people have families too (to say the least). Whew-glad I can relate to you guys
