Don't take the OR job. You can do all the fun nursing stuff while you are in school. While I was in school, I worked as a receptionist PT at an assisted living. I could study and do my own thing. There will be no room for that in the OR. And OR nursing is very specific. Unless you want to definitely work in the OR when you graduate from nursing school, I would say NO.

How about this... remember how it felt your first days in the MICU? Were you unsure of how to care for your patients? Want to leave and never come back? Everyone feels this when starting something new. Totally normal. I just started in the ICU and I feel this all the time! I've heard it only gets better, and it will be the same for you. Go ahead and pursue your dreams.

The GRE is similar to the SAT and ACT as it is based on verbal and math skills, as well as a writing portion. Hopefully, I'll study more this time around :)

I am about to start a new position in the ICU and have already told my manager. One thing to keep in mind is that you need a full year in the ICU. If you graduate in May, you can apply for September, but you will have to answer to that in your interview. Good luck with your decision.

um yeah this is all well and good that suzanne doesnt put her plan out there/ copyrighted. some of us would really appreciate if she charged a fee and put it out there or something like that. its really not fair if you have been reading this for years and then she just up and leaves! what the heck? what about 2009 grads who would like help?

My ICU interviews were brief. They wanted to hear about my future goals (even if that means CRNA, NP, etc.). The director of the unit wants to know that you are able to learn and grow there. Most of the unit directors just spoke about what the unit was, what type of patients they get, ratios.. It was just ultimately my decision to pick which ICU I wanted. HR asked the toughies.. What is an example of how you worked toward a goal and what was the outcome? Describe when you have worked as a member of a group? What challenges you? I looked at interview general question websites to prepare. Hope this helps.

As a patient today, this is soon going to be unavoidable. We are surrounded by health information in the media and for good reason, our health is at stake. We are becoming a population diagnosed by webmd. Within reason, I think it is harmless.

i think it is only natural to wonder this. there is a lot of time and effort that must be put in. but, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! :)
