  1. At my school, Biology or Chemistry is a prereq to A&P but chemistry is "strongly prefered". I took chem in spring quarter. I haven't taken A&P yet (registered for fall) but from some of the A&P study guides I have, I would be a lot farther lost in the woods if I didn't know basic chemistry. It doesn't hurt to at least brush up on it, especially the Organic Chemistry which is crucial to know in Bio class and to understand such things as amino acids and DNA. Good luck! :)
  2. I am. I've got 6 weeks until Fall Quarter starts, best to get busy! I have faith I'll do well, between getting a head start and the fact that my mom is an RN and aced her A&P classes with an 'A'. AND my boyfriend's mom is in NS right now, so I've got plenty of help when I need it! :)
  3. Count me in! I just registered today for A&P, and that is ALL. As much as I want to take another class or 2 this quarter I've heard so many people tell me how hard this class is, and I want to make sure I get an A. Slow and steady wins the race. :typing
  4. Wow, you all have some crazy schedules! I'm taking A&P I MTW 8-9:50. I'm working FT so I'm taking it slow this quarter because in Spring I had Chem and English while working 50+ hrs a week, and that was nuts. Next quarter it will be A&P II and Psych. :)
  5. Congrats! I too just finished chem, what an exhausting course! SO glad that's over, lol. Good luck in NS!!!
  6. Congratulations on your A for the class! I really hope Ann bombed the final, or that your instructor gives her a nice fat "0" for the grade.
  7. Applications won't be ready till January for the Spring 2010 LPN program (I'm doing the LPN-RN bridge). All I need to get out of the way is A&P I & II and Psych II. I'm dreading the 3 month wait before I find out, lol. I can't wait, it'll be awhile before I know but I pray I get in!
  8. THIS. It's really quite simple: study hard + good time mgmt (ie not partying all the time) = GOOD GRADES! Genius concept!
  9. Yikes! That is a lot on your plate. Best of luck, you can do it if you really apply yourself. :) I'm also taking A&P this fall, I never took it in High School (except the brief overview in Health class) but from what I hear, the college course is insanely hard. A friend of mine who just got into the Nursing Program said about half her A&P class failed/dropped. Luckily there's great resources out there; I heard A&P coloring books are a huge savior for the class (you can buy them at any bookstore for $10-20). Just be like me: study your butt off over the summer! Good luck!!
  10. That's awful. I hope she's not going the Nursing route, can you imagine having a nurse take care of you that cheated her way through school? Scary. I had something similar happen in my Psychology class, a friend of mine was taking it with me last quarter and begged me to write his final paper, offering me $300! He had a C- and was teetering on complete fail. I was appalled and told him not-so-nicely to go screw himself. I mean, come on, he's majoring in psych, and wants to cheat his way through the class! Ugh, the nerve of some people...
  11. Just finished my first quarter! First time back to school in 6 years, and I must say I did great. If you're determined enough, you'll do great too. Good luck!! :)
  12. I'm not sure about programs in Texas, but up here in WA we have to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and pass with an 80 or higher to get into most of the Nursing programs. Google is your best friend, just look up all the Nursing Schools in your area and see what is required (all schools are different, but for the most part the General Education and entrance exams are similar). Then talk to the Nursing adviser at your school, or the ones you're interested in applying to. They have the know-all about what you need to submit your application, exams, deadlines etc. Good luck through Nursing School and beyond!
  13. Absolutely this. I've just finished chem this spring quarter (Got an A- and worked my butt off for it) and if you haven't taken a chemistry class in awhile, I'd brush up on the basics (atomic structure, isomers and ions, matter and energy, chemical bonding etc.) Pay attention in class and take notes, and always ask for help when you need it. Trust me, some things will have you thrown through a loop. As long as you do all the assigned work and don't skip class, you'll do just fine. Good luck!
  14. Count me in too! I'm only taking Psych over the summer so I have a little more free time to study A&P before Fall quarter. I want to get a head start, at least understand the basics. Luckily, my mom's an RN so I'll have help when I really need it. :) Can't wait, all I need to get out of the way is A&P and Psych and then I can apply for NS spring 2010!
  15. I'm going the LPN route, then do the bridge to get my RN. For me, it's quicker this way. :)
