75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
pinkygirll, do not despair,i too took nclex the first time in may this yrand failed, had never failed any class in college so this came as a depressing shock to me.but here is what i did.i knew where i had gone wrong, ie using easy to understand review books such as saunders, dont get me wrong, saunders can be very good but when it comes to the actual nclex level qs, you want to use such books as mosby, exam cram, lippincott and also if you can get your hands on nclex 4000 you d be doing yourself a huge favor.i too studied for hrs and hrs on end but honestly if you are using the wrong text/lower level review material, you are likely not to pass.i am not saying thats what you did but from my personal experience,i suggest you use mosby and exam cram together.i know some people say to use one review book/cd but it helps to use several study aids.i did my nurse training in the united kingdom where they use a totally different system and no doubt i failed the first time but i got myself back up,worked hard, and passed on the second attempt.your husband is right,45days will soon pass, just mentally prepare yourself for the task ahead and you will make it.also, dont forget to do the things you love to do still, make time for some fun activities and take a day off or 2 just to give the brain time to take stuff in. if you feel like you are struggling, seek personal tutoring.i hope this helps and i m sorry you didnt make it this time but you will be an RN one day.

I cant afford Kaplan! Help!
if you ve used exam cram, nclex 4000 and mosby and did well in these , you got a good chance of passing at 75 questions, trust me. mosby is one of the most difficult and closest to the nclex, exam cram is more like the exam itself and nclex 4000 is great. keep drilling yourself man and you ll do well. i got a feeling you are ready. forget kaplan, the above 3 are good enough.good luck.

can somebody tell me what is exam cram
you d have to buy it online, i bought mine from amazon for 25-30bucks.great value for money .read my other posts regarding this issue cos i strongly recommend having another good nursing text book for content.exam cram is mainly about drilling you to pass the exam, a bit like kaplan without the online access and text books but of course for 10times cheaper. exam cram has basic content, it doesnt go into details too much, its main focus is drilling you to be able to answer the real nclex exam and it does that . the other thing is the rationales are not as detailed as nclex 4000s ,thats why i recommend using both.it worked for me, i did my nurse training in england, uk where they use a totally different system so it can work for anyone.if you dont like mosby(my favorite)or lippincott(another good book) ,get nclex 4000 online for under 30bucks ,combine exam cram and nclex 4000 and you ll notice the difference in a few weeks. aim for 150-200 qs a day and i tell you its way better than kaplan.i took the kaplan 3yrs ago and didnt think it was that good ,just expensive.it works for some but in these times, try my advice and just be consistent with your studying. also take time off studying one day or two a week and continue to do the things you like to do.

can somebody tell me what is exam cram
i found out yesterday that i passed. anyway, back to yo question.how cram works is after taking the 3adaptive drill tests several times (can be up to 1000 qs per test) and passing above 75% for test 1, you ll be automatically directed to test 2 where you got to do loads more qs, some of the qs keep popping up but thats how cram drills you,and when you get 85%and higher ,it takes you to test 3 where you got to get 95%and higher.my advice is when you go to the historic analysis, look at how many questions unanswered you got left and just attemp to answer them all.when you ve done all this, you then will take the simulated test. by this time, cram already knows your weak areas and it will test you on these. during testing, if you reach a passing mark at 75 or whatever number of qs, the exam ends, just like the real nclex.but for now concentrate on taking as many adaptive drill tests as you can cos there s thousands of qs to answer. only when you get three passes (you will see yo scores in the historic analysis)thats when you take the simulated test. i hope this helps

Is exam cram worth it?
as far as the actual nclex style qs go, exam cram is one of the best on the market but to efficiently use this book, you will need another good content book (mosby, lippincott, saunders etc).exam cram drills you to be able to answer the exam correctly but you need to have some good knowledge base, this is what i felt exam cram lacked in.

can somebody tell me what is exam cram
exam cram is one of the best study guides you can get on the market.it mimicks the real nclex exam and the actual practice exam will cut off at the passing number (75,76,88,or whichever number).its good value for money.it comes as a hard copy(book) and a cd with all you need to prepare for nclex.the only thing is the content is not very detailed so you may wanna use another good book like mosby or lippincott. i personally am not too much of a saunders or kaplan fan coz saunders let me down when i took the exam the first time.i just retook the exam monday the 10th and felt as though i was more in the game this time. when i took the exam the first time, computer shut off at 75, i left the test center knowing i had failed, went home and continued to study. of course i was right, i failed at 75qs. i also heard of exam cram from one of the threads, bought it for 25bucks or so and got to work.dont forget to use another good book with in depth content as suggested earlier.use this book for about 8 weeks taking anything between 75-100 qs a day, believe you me, you ll feel different(confident). needless to say that i m a foreign educated nurse (UK)and when i first started studying for nclex, i was overwhelmed by the stuff i had to cover but after using exam cram, i felt like i could do it. i m still waiting for my results, will probably be able to view them today on the quick results link.i have already tried the pearson vue trick(in case you havent heard what this is ,,,you attempt to schedule a test with pearson vue and if it lets you make the payment, chances are you didnt pass, if it stops you from making the payment, most people say this means a pass.)i know this is not official but right now its helping with the anxiety.i hope this answers yo question. so go ahead, and start preparing and good luck.

dont worry yourself too much, there is a chance you passed.here s why. if you was feeling like you had to second guess all the way thru the exam, you would ve failed at 75questions like me.the fact that you got to 230 is good news. you were getting a lot right and maybe quite a few wrong but the odds seem to say that you passed.when i took my test in may, i was praying to get more than 75 qs cos i knew i wasnt doing too well right from the second question.i only got 75 and was relieved that my torture was over. i knew i had to go back and do some real studying, which i m doing now.but your situation is more optimistic, believe you me.i d say you passed so try not to worry too much. good luck

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
this may not sound too good but i took the nclex rn last month and had used saunders' 3rd edition for most of my review(a mistake cos this is an outdated version).i knew i was failing as i was sitting behind that computer.to add to that, i went to nursing school in england,uk so was not very familiar with US style of nursing.the computer shut off at 75, i knew i had failed, went home and told everyone who cared to listen that i wasnt gonna stop studying cos i had not passed.i was right, i didnt pass, am still studying with a private tutor (cost 175 for 18hrs) and using the cram review book and cd. saying that, i hope you passed and by no means intend to make you feel any worse than you already are ,just telling you what can happen when the computer stops at 75 qs . most people who pass feel as though they failed but if you are not doing as well as you should, you can tell too. i m sorry if this comes across as a bit blunt.

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
Christina, dont worry yourself too much, from the kind of qs you got, it sounds like you passed. just call a good friend or close family member, go out to do the things you like to do most and check your name on your board website tomorrow, there s a good chance it will be there. i cant see how you can get 20 SATA qs and not pass cos the exam is structured such that if you are doing well (even if you may not feel as though you are)the computer keeps asking you higher level qs and sata is one of the high level type of question. i hope this helps.

I cant afford Kaplan! Help!
is it possible to overdo the questions?and how many is overdoing it exactly?i thought practising questions (as many as possible, around 5-6000) was one of the most important aspects of preparing for the nclex.

I cant afford Kaplan! Help!
try mosby ,lippincott and the cram book.mosby and cram's questions are at the nclex level(i know cos i took nclex last month and failed)having primarily used saunders.saunders is just good for basic knowledge but as far as the qs are concerned, go cram or mosby.good luck

taking nclex pn tomorrow!
i wouldnt worry too much, if you ve been studying since feb, there s a good chance you passed.just to add a comment, when i took the nclex rn test last month and failed it, i came across a bunch of meds that i had never seen or heard of but as i was looking at the perfomance report they send when you do not pass, i did well in this area and that is one of the areas i was above the passing standard. the other thing i was thinking as i was taking the test was...why are they asking me about stuff that is so rarely used and even if i get it right, i will forget about it in a few a days after the exam.what good is that?that exam makes you so mad at times.i mean even doctors have to consult specialists outside their areas of expertise when it comes to medication, but nclex expect you to know it all. anyawy, good luck
