  1. I am loving this board! I just finished my med-surg 1 clinical this past December, and was so glad to be done with it. On my second week I had a really nice lady, and while I was doing my assessment her Dr had came into the room. I was so nervous and trying to get out of his way, that I forgot the bed side table was behind me with her husband's large cup of fresh coffee. It went crashing to the floor, and went straight for the Dr's shoes! I grab a towel and started wiping the coffee up. I didn't want to disturb him, and started wiping in between his feet. He then started to leave the room, stepped on my hand, almost fell (but luckily he caught his self), and walked out of the room without saying a word. I tried to stay in the pt's room as much as possible, because I was so scared of what might happen if we bumped into each other in the hall. I was so embarrassed!
  2. When we have repeat drug seekers come in, we joke and say to give them some Norsaline, and save the better drugs for people who need them. Norsaline = normal saline We never really do it of coorifice.
  3. Nomadic AP-03 Moving Option Waist Bags This web site has really nice hip bags!
  4. I agree some doctors do have the worst handwriting skills ever. It's bad when you have to go through 4 other people just to make out that he wrote "ace bandage to L ankle". LOL, but I love the doctors I work with.
  5. at are hospital we have wrist bands that print out of the printer and just tape around the wrist. Why not just have the color code for certain things like a patient having an DNR would be red and the printer just prints a red dot by the persons name on the wrist band. If anything changes about the patient's status, just cut the old band off and print out an updated one.
  6. I've been an ER tech for 5 years, and it helped me make the desision to go back to school to become an RN. I love it, and now that I'm taking my pre classes, the nurses really help me understand and learn A&P. I was lucky to get the position because they were trying to get rid of ER techs but the nurses demanded to have ER techs and here i am. For nursing school you get to see alot of what nurses learn in school, and will help during skill training like puting in a catheter, ng tubes, and alot of neat stuff. good luck and have fun!!!
  7. [color=dimgray]hello. [color=dimgray]i'm starting my second semester of pre-reqs for nursing school, and my colledge just opened a medical terminology class wich i'm thinking about taking. the only problem is that it is a online coorifice. so my question is do ya'll think it will still be good to take, even though it's online? i'm scared that i might not get alot of learning from it because i've never taken a online coorifice before. [color=dimgray] [color=dimgray]what do ya'll think?
  8. I don't think you can ever write enough on your nurses notes. I've always heard to write your notes as if you could go to court at any time, and you want them to know everything that happened exactly the way it did. I don't think you have to write a book, but you never know it could end up helping you in the end. I've seen so many nurses write in quotations word for word what the patient said, and what the doc. said. Also I think their are classes that can help you see it from a layers point of view which will really help. I'm not a nurse yet, but I work in a E.R. and just wanted to help out by telling my experiense with working with nurses. Hope this helps.
