  3. Oral care and suctioning!!!!
  4. The DON at my home health agency states that home health is about to be squeezed. She has warned us of up coming layoffs. Which scares me because I was the last one hired. She says that medicare will give a lump sum for a pt that the hospital, doctors, and home health will have to share. What do you all think. I think I need to go back for my masters.
  5. I have looked into HIT, but I do not know what RHIA is. At my previous job we had EMR, but is there program just for EMR? Thanks for feed back.
  6. I have been a nurse for a few years. I have been to medsurg, icu, and now home health. I went back for my BSN. I had always planned to go for NP, but after working in the hospital, I don't see it for me, but I want to continue my education. I am really happy right now, but I don't want to do home health forever. I think about getting a MBA that I could use in nursing or far away from nursing. I have consider information systems since nursing has to be computerized in the next few years. What king of future plans are you all making?
  7. I am leaving the hospital and joing home health. I have noticed that everybody set their trunk of differently and hoards different supplies. I want to know what do you all think is the most needed supplies. I also see that organization is everything. What do you do/use to organize your time. Thanks.
  8. Is there a set minimum nurse-patient ratio for Alabama or can an institution make any grid they want?
  9. I am a RN with a BSN with 2 years experience in med surg and about to start in ICU while in school for NP. What is the best place to live considering cost of living and safety? I have two school aged kids. I like small town as opposed to big cities. I would like to move after finishing school in a couple of years. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. I am a new grad on cardiac floor. I understand textbook ABGs, but I need help with interpreting and know what a person is doing esp if on a bipap. And I have found someone on my floor to explain BE-basal excess. Any help is welcomed.
  11. thanks for the feedback, sometimes I feel bad about asking experience nurses questions, but it worse not to do anything. Thanks!!
  12. What are the best shoes for 12 hours shifts. Has anybody tried the new "butt toners" from sketchers and nike?
  13. thanks for the advice. it is greatly appreciated.
  14. I appreciate the feedback. If I decide to work full time for a company who would you all recommend. In general I hear some good stories, but then I hear some horror stories. Any info would be great.
  15. have been working on a step down unit for about 6 months and I would like to move to hospice/home health after a year. I was wondering what are some experiences with the different agencies. Could I start prn after the first of the year and work my way into a job while still working at the hospital?
