I am not trying to repeat a topic. But your input is appreciated.
I am intersted in pursing a Family/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I have read numerous threads about the 2015 changes and some say it is fact and others say it is not. Three of my schools in my area have done away with the masters and have made the BSN-DNP the option (I have a BSN) whereas one still has a MSN option. I really don't want to pursue a DNP due to the cost and time. But I don't want to get the MSN degree and then in a few years not be marketable (or even now) and have to go get a DNP. Do I need this DNP degree now to do this work? I'm really confused. I want to get the job I want or start a practice that I won't have trouble starting. All advice is appreciated. I apologize if it's posted elsewhere. I've read numerous threads and done numerous searches to prevent this post. Thanks.

New grad can't find a job in Missouri.
I hear you. In the KC area. I have gone on a few interviews and not gotten the job. I try to remember that I don't know who I am up against (they were internal, they worked there, they did clinicals there, they had a contact) and not take it personally. It's hard though. I think the markets are tough everywhere. I also am tired of hearing "what, you can't find a job? I thought there were tons..." Hang in there. Know you aren't alone.

male nurses with beards
Good to know about the mask...never thought of that. Had a goatee or beard for 10 years and not planning of getting rid of it unless a new job requires it (new grad that can't be too picky).

Need help choosing the right unit to work!!!
I am similar to the OP...I just know the no's...peds and mother/baby and the like. Otherwise I am open. These posts are helpful because I don't know what I want to do...but given the economy who hires new grads will drive what depts hire. At least where I am. I think the ICU and ER may be a bit much for me to start but I think with a year of experience I'd be interested (because it's looking like med/surg, med/tele, ortho, etc.). Thanks for the info...other input is appreciated.

Essential Tremor
I totally understand where you are coming from. New grad here and worried about it. Clinicals had a few issues but now that I am able to do the real thing I am worried. Like ugadawg, I don't know what to say and now I'm worried it's affecting me in job interviews because it gets worse with anxiety, etc. I take Primidone 200 mg a day without much help, tried Propranolol but didn't help much either. I take Klonopin as a "breakthrough" anxiety stop gap but that even at times doesn't help. There is an organization for it: http://www.essentialtremor.org/ And a Facebook page which is pretty supportive. Any other ideas on how to reduce this with patients/nurses/doctors and also what to say to patients is greatly appreciated.

Graduate RN Job Search...
Kansas City is pretty saturated...but if you are patient you will likely find one. I am looking hard and had interviews but nothing yet. Classmates have taken 2-3 months on average. Dunno about other areas in MO.

Applying outside of NCLEX state license??
I live in Missouri but went to school in Kansas and have a Kansas license. Given where I live is on a border town, I went ahead and got the Missouri license. It has helped when talking to recruiters...I think they'd understand but like another poster said it makes you more competitive.

Got home from NCLEX and got no popup.
I retest August 11. Working hard. I am affirming, praying, and believing I will pass (I am still scared tho).

Got home from NCLEX and got no popup.
Got the quick results and did fail. Grr. As my friend said, at least I was semi-prepared.

Got home from NCLEX and got no popup.
Sorry I wasn't clear. I tried the Pearson pop up thing and it went to the credit card screen which means you failed. I won't get my quick results until Saturday but it's a pretty sure thing. Woke up today and trying to stay positive.

Got home from NCLEX and got no popup.
So I took the exam, got 75 questions and thought I have this down. And got home and the PVT didn't work. I did a Kaplan class and virtual ATI. I am so discouraged and frustrated and down. I feel defeated because I don't know what else I could have done. I'm not sure I really expect out of this posting because all I see are the hooray! type postings for the passing folks (and I am happy for them). My plans are to use what's left of Kaplan online and go through all of the classes again plus lessons on demand and deplete my qbank of questions. I am going to see what ATI will let me do (although I don't feel it was that useful AND I got the green light from them to test so I am not sure what is going on) and see what plan they can formulate. That will keep me busy but any advice to reasonable supplement that is appreciated. Thanks.

Any June NCLEX Test Takers Out There?
Take mine June 16. Took Kaplan and ATI both. Freaking out because my question trainers are low. Will continue to do Saunders and Kaplan and just pray.
