  1. Hey All, I am having trouble finding a job that doesn't require experience. I live in Iowa and currently the job market is extremely poor anyways. I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that you can search for new grad. or entry level nursing jobs? This is a very frustrating time. I currently am employed by the same tanning studio I worked at during high school and college. It just makes you feel worthless. Did I really spend all this money on schooling to be working at my same minimum wage job? Hell no! I'm sure there are others that can relate. I went into this field thinking the demand was so high and I would have no trouble finding a job. It's depressing. Sorry for the rant, I just feel broken and discouraged. I would love any advice or anyone that can relate to comment. Praying for Work, KatieBrookeRN
  2. Hello All- I am a RN who is currently working with "Profco" to travel to Australia. I had a phone interview this morning and the company seemed legit and secure. I was wondering if anyone has used this company before and what your thoughts on it were? They state that they differ from other agencies as they do not cover lodging, expense money, etc. Basically they help you get your visa and get set up with a hospital. I was informed you only need 18 mths experience and that hiring new grads was not an issue. They are seeking mostly Mental Health nurses and the salary was pretty nice. I was also wondering what the cost of living there was like? I was informed I would probably be offered a job at the New South Wales Hospital and wondered if anyone has had any experience there and what it is like? Any advice is appreciated =) KatieBrooke R.N.
  3. Thank you so much, That's very sweet of you I will take all the thoughts and prayers I can get!
  4. Thanks for your encouragement chulada77, I really appreciate the positive feedback. I am taking boards this Saturday and have been looking day in and day out for international jobs. Thanks everyone for all the responses. God Bless
  5. Hi Byatt- I'm am from the US, Iowa, will be an RN in May of 2010 and I am 19. I have made friends with a lady in my Nursing class that is 57. She is one of the most compassionate and caring people I know. She is very wise and will make the perfect Nurse. I have faith you can do it too =) I wish good luck to you!
  6. Thank you. I really appreciate your input and time. I COMPLETELY agree with you on patient safety and safety of my liscence. I will keep my goals in sight and work hard to be recognized.
  7. Lol, that's ok =) Like I said, I'm looking for honestly and you are probably right, I don't know very much. I would like to ask you, is there anywhere outside the US that would be more accepting of fresh grads? I'm not completely against traveling in the US but I would most definitely prefer International Nursing. Thanks again, I'm very curious and appreciate your time =)
  8. =) Thank 5cats- I agree with you to get experience here. The only thing is that I'm sooo set on going straight away. Being young, having no attachments, for new knowledge/learning, etc..I love this field, but I wish it was the same everywhere. I feel my school has been preparing Me very well for what is ahead. I know with Nursing there is always MORE and MORE to learn, I just don't understand why you can't do the learning overseas..Thank you for your reply =)
  9. Thank you all very much, I really appreciate the honesty as well. Having said that, caroladybelle, I obviously am just graduating and have minimal nursing "experiences" but do they consider grades when you apply for traveling jobs? Also, did you start traveling immediately? I am from Iowa and the town I grew up in has a wonderful college with a great nursing program. So basically I have been in the same place my entire life. I'm not saying I'm one of those people that "can't wait to get out of here" but I started nursing school 2 days after I graduated HS in '08 and I'm ready for a change. I'm very determined and open to new things. I really feel like I'm capable of traveling as an RN. I have grown so much during the past 2 years, with nursing and over-all knowledge. Do you have any advice for Me? I honestly don't know many nurses that have done traveling nursing period, let alone to Germany. Any advice would be wonderful :loveya:
  10. Hi All =) I am looking for advice! I will graduate with my RN in May of 2010 and I am extremely interested in traveling abroad to Germany. I am young with no attachments and I believe this is the perfect time to carry out this journey! I have done a lot of research online but come up with little results regarding US Nurses working in Germany. I was wondering if anyone could give Me some advice or information on this. I know little German but I have been trying to teach myself a little more each day, in between classes and clinicals of course =) I have found some information regarding the American hospital, Landsthul Medical Center located near Kaiserslautern and would love any feedback/knowledge about it. I particularly enjoy Mental Health but would love all/any information about US Nurses working in Germany. Thanks =)
  11. Hi wanttobecrna123- I as well am interested in working at Landstuhl Medical Center. I would love to work in Germany period actually. My problem is that I know only a little German. I was wondering if you knew of the requirements to be able to work in Germany as a RN? I have researched online quite a bit and have come up with little information. I would love to travel as an RN but I haven't found any website that works with Germany. I would love to hear back from you =) Katie
